This is not an auction. It is a straight sell. That's why there are no sniping rules. You simply say what the planet is worth to you. There is no rebidding to drive up the price. If there are no other offers by the close of sale, it will be yours for that price.

You should do this by sealed bids, have people PM you their highest bid.

That way people will actually PM you what they are willing to pay rather than lowball, and then have someone else bid on their behest, should they be outbid.

^^ Yeah, I considered that and I might do it next time. But sealed bids are faulty in the sense that the seller can always lie about what was a good bid. I was trying to avoid back room deals that drive up prices and I was trying to avoid the usual auction stuff that forces bidding wars. This is clean and simple. Say how much you would pay for the planet; first time around, no snipping, no back stabbing, no price gouging.
