Notice how the top is flat and that it is made using a light moist batter similar to a cake batter.  The above is a muffin. Notice how it has a fat round top, and that it is made of a decidedly different kind of batter that is closer to a bread in the end result. [edit] GAH! Image sizes are killing me here. Oh well it works. To get a good view of the cupcake you need to actually open the picture itself in a new tab as this forum resizes things all crazy like These two images are supposed to be darn near the same number of pixels. Also there is this diagram, lmao.
