A Cautionary Tale

For those with a TLDR inclinations:
THahs from Earths Militant Minds cannot keep his word, owes 45k ctp from a deal and has no intention to pay.

The longer bit.

Thahs and I had arranged for me to come by to donate energy in exchange for ctp.
We also talked about when I would come and how long it would take

ImageImage

and he also indicated that he would be willing to purchase more if he can pay later

ImageImage

Then I arrive in legion to start the donation and he again indicates that he would buy more if he can pay later.
Having previous dealings with him for quite some time without issue, I decided to offer terms where he could pay at a later date, with an incentive for paying in the time he said he could pay.

Image

With terms established and agreed to, the energy donation is completed promptly and I move on to other deals.
Things start to get fishy about a week into the payments. The first time the arrangement needed to be reminded to thahs because he was saying the wrong amount.

ImageImage

So now we are past the 2 weeks payment period and I remind thahs of the deal and give him additional time to try to not lose out on the discounted rate for paying within the time period agreed upon.
But here the excuses begin

Image

The additional time passes with a negligible amount of the remaining balance paid so I inform him that the discount rate is not valid due to not meeting the timeline. I now find out that the timeline will be much longer than expected.

Image

and questions begin to be ignored

Image

Eventually, over a month after the energy was donated, we get to the discounted rate that should have been paid in 2 weeks being reached and now there is an issue.

He now indicates that he has no intent on paying any more and in his mind the deal is done even though he was shown exactly these same screenshots of the deal he agreed to.

Regardless of how well you think you know someone, don't lend money.
And don't do any deals with Thahs that take longer to complete than you'd expect your pet goldfish to be hold a thought.

Giving the rest of the legion a chance to make good.
Lock on sight and bounty on base shares might get to be an option depending on the response.

Let me just clarify that we are grateful that ETOS was able to help us achieve our goal. I'm sorry to see that some sort of miss communication has led to a rather unsettling thread.

Regardless of what has been said (and confirmed) through screenshots, EMM will repay the dept agreed upon due to the late payment of CTP.

Feel free to communicate directly with me in order to schedule a payment plan. I will personally monitor this in order to get it done in a timely fashion.

I'm sorry about confusion as this is not how we would normally handle our businesses with other legions.

Cheers,

Hello,

I have removed the images from this thread as we don't like personal information to be given out. If they are edited to remove most of the name (or last name at least), they would be fine to post but i don't want this to turn into a witch hunt. AttAcK3R appears to want to fix the mess someone else in his legion created.

Having seen the screen shots of the amounts in issue, my only comment is, was it reasonable to rely on Buyer's representations in terms of the timeframe given the amount(s) involved?

I haven't bothered trading in a while, so I may be ignorant of how much CTP is moving around lately, but those numbers had me floored. 5k ctp a day when he had already scraped the barrel as it were?... You might figure to get lucky with auctions for say 2k ctp a day if you got the creds. You could probably via npcing in a die hard fashion do another 1k or so a day...maybe even 2k.... Say from other sources you scrape up the remainder to get to 5k...

EVERY day for a bunch of days?.... I'm not saying seller is at fault here. A price was agreed to and barring extenuating circumstances(which does not include "hey, i'm short, so sorry") you honor the commitments. Those who break deals are welshers. Those who make commitments they know they can't keep are con artists. In real life, there could be significant penalties much greater than what goes on here. The #s though just have me scratching my head.

EMM is being smart to work this out though considering the joke that tends to around the forums is Squishy counts as his own legion for basing purposes.

Many thanks to AttAcK3R from EMM for taking the initiative to reach out and start working out this issue.

I think cen was more than fair. All things equal, you make a deal you live up to the expectations. I have traded with Cen and he was very reasonable. I had the ctp on hand and we hanlded everything up front--- which is the best way to me. No one gets confused, no one loses out , and no one has to brow beat someone to make good on the deal.

I hope the legion steps up and makes good. Buying items on credit is risky. Cen may have been too kind operating on that basis.

Long story short is that the deal was clear. Whether it was realistic for us (EMM) to accomplish this deadline or not it was accepted. The selling came though with our demands and we are all grateful to have what we have now.
Always keep your nose clean and business is how I was raised and its how I will finish this deal.

Cen was more then patient in this matter and we thank him for that. Now its our job to make ends meat and conclude this deal.

Whatever flat we get in the meantime because of this is our problem. You don't always train good players by playing nice ;)

Attack3r and the rest of the EMM legion has resolved the outstanding balance.

The way EMM has handled this should be an example for upstanding and honorable behavior.
