I know I have posted this before AND I know that others have posted this SAME topic before, BUT! It deserves to be posted AGAIN! Again today I had a legion member do something that did not warrant the member being kicked from the legion, but it is hard to fix these things and have members listen if you have players that go around and just break Legion rules and rulings. I will suggest some current possible REASONABLE punishments.

1. The player cannot receive Legion Base Shipments for a week.
2. The player cannot receive badges from an enemy base disable. (Still allow them to hit it though.)
3. The player cannot colonize planets that are shared by the legion for a week.(Still allow them to see them and hit them)
4. The Player cannot alert planets or enemy ships for a week.
5. The Player can be barred, for a week, from receiving legion bonuses to planets.
6. Ban the player from Legion Chat for a hour.(Especially if you think they just need to cool off)
7. Ban them from receiving rewards on Elites or Bosses that are alerted that are, NOT THERE OWN.
8. I could not think of anything for 8 so you all post your ideas here.

We really need another way to deal with members besides kicking them and sometimes simple talking to them can get no where or they don't even respond to you.

Edit: and I don't think there should be a little gray message telling everyone that the player has been punished.

Edit Edit: Maybe that should be an option for the leader to choice, you know, to make an example?

I just noticed you went all dark blue on the "Supreme Commander" thing. It does make it a bit hard to see. Go red or someting noticeable. Be proud of your self-created title. I know I'm proud of mine.

Anyhoo, as to your actual post, whatever punishment we can do, keep the action private. No need to make everything public if you don't want it.

For punishment, a chat ban doesn't do much for me, since it hasn't been a big problem yet. Maybe others have had actual problems. I like the idea of withholding daily rewards or prohibiting NPC elite drops, especially for those slackers who make a habit of hitting it once and sitting back to collect an undeserved prize.

Other than that, not sure what to do. You can boot them and accept them back. They lose some privileges for a week, but the legion loses some bonuses too.

Players aren't going to hit things knowing they aren't going to get a prize at the end, so allowing them to do it anyway probably won't have much effect.

2. The player cannot see any shared bases.
3. The player cannot colonize planets that are shared by the legion for a week.(Still allow them to see them and hit them)Let them see what they're missing, I like it - it'd punish ninjas.
4. The Player cannot alert planets or enemy ships for a week.Helps to control people who alert badge hits.
5. The Player can be barred, for a week, from receiving legion bonuses to planets.Anti-ninja again.
6. Ban the player from Legion Chat for a hour.(Especially if you think they just need to cool off)VERY good.
7. Ban them from Seeing any alerted bosses
8. Ban them from using the repair bay/shield charger/CT lab/commerce bay

Some good ideas here. I agree with the general premise.

I like the idea of the members still being able to attack. It could be a way to redeem themselves. Preventing someone from attacking would hurt the legion in my opinion, whereas just stripping them of their reward is just that.

That was what I was thinking too. The redeeming part at least. Of course most would be too mad to even try.

that may be too many option for Dan to implement, I would suggest ONE that is all-or-nothing.

72 hour Probation =

locked out of base completely
can not allow new members or kick members
No access to diplomacy button (this was an issue I dealt with)
No resources from base
No access to trade artifacts
No access to legion shared NPC's
No access to legion shared planets
No alerting to legion planets/enemies/NPC's
can not be repaired by legion mates
No daily reward

I love this idea, all we have now for disciplinary actions is demotion (I've used) or jettison them into space.

I think the the "No Daily Reward" would be out of the Legions Jurisdiction as it has nothing to really do with the legion.

Also, did you make that list Specifically for Officers or are those extras just added IN case of the player being a Officer?

As with all ideas, they need tweeking. The idea is there. No need to shrink it down to 'you can do diddily squat for x amount of time'.
