Basiclly every other game i've played browser based over the years has a vacation mode useable once a year for a duration of 2 weeks

We all go on holidays making sure theres internet nearby can be a pain in the a***

On top of this to date over the year and a bit playing i've seen numerous people through no fault of their own lose a net connection for a period of time e.g. natural disasters, bereavments e.t.c. they come back to the game see the 100 billion they had stored gone wiped out and everything on ship broken.

Some peoples upkeep on the ship alone is imo an average of 4-8 bn for the vast amount of players - mid players requiring 160 billion to just cover upkeep in case of an emergency, to me it seems like a major development over sight as it costs players legion mates etc ..

Its really and truly beyond me why this option is not in the game yet.
Even a reply on the subject from a developer would be nice on this matter.

Suggestion : Add a vacation mode useable once a year for a set time e.g. 2 weeks.

To answer in a nut shell its :

Basically from other games it stops your account for 2 weeks no production no upkeep and attack immunity basically an account suspension users choice so they can enjoy a holiday, deal with a tragedy in peace without worrying about an online browser game. Useable once a year and the player can activate it any time or end it say after a week.

i could be wrong then. i coulda sworn it was in the 'coming soon' thread in the 'in development' section next to legion governments. but its very possible both those projects got canned instead of just governments.

from what I heard, legion government was still coming out, it was just put on the back burning since there were a lot of bugs and implementation problems to work out

EDIT: and vaction mode should be added after this next update, but I want the next update first!

New content is always important but out of every legion with people playing this game the longer they leave it the more people leave atm the game design is basically away from the game for 2 weeks the general conception is to just quit or make a hard comeback repairing for 4 weeks and claiming shipments, planet moons and rings is an awesome idea and im really looking forward to seeing this added but i'd prefer an option for a vm mode right away.

If we keep letting other updates come first this idea gets put on the back burner again and well see someone posting this again in another year.

I also agree it would be nice too take a vacation and not worry about your creds or planets while gone. However I don't like the two week thing. I don't think I have ever took a two week vacation. I think that you should be able to choose how long you can be on vacation anywhere from one day to two weeks and have a set amount of two weeks a year to use. So you can spread it out through out the year. Just my thoughts on it.

You've never been on holiday for 2 weeks? .... Wow

2 weeks is usually better since travel agents give you a better £/day ratio.

Anyway... I'm currently in the gutter trying to claw my way out. From what I understand the "only" way is to spend GP and waste it on that roulette crap.

I'm not wanting to waste GP on that therefore my only choice is wait for several weeks clicking "claim minerals" then "sell" or I could of course take the easy option and quit.

You see the dilemma that many face now.

The game itself as i see it no vacation mode is a fundemental flaw and game that has no vm mode will obviously lose players but i've never seen a game in which a 2 week break can damage your gaming experience so badly that quitting is a very strong option.

+1 this.

I almost left the game last year because it happened to me. I had asked my brother to keep things ticking over whist I was away. He forgot and I came back to a ship full of broken modules and zero credits. I was gutted, but after a week I decided to start repairing and putting things back together. If it happened again I would leave rather than rebuild. It took all the fun out of the game for a long time.

defintely support no upkeep and no production part of the system.

But I have mixed feelings about other "functions" of vacation mode made by others.

For starters, I don't see why disable/raid should be blocked. I mean.. if you turn off ally repair you can only be disabled once regardless of how long you are going to be away. That is next to nothing. And raid... since u only lose MP/AP which you probably drained dry/near dry as you left, you won't really be missing much. So there is no need to remove this

Hack is a bit different thou, crit hacks are very dangerous. But if you minimized the chance of that by maxing out ur cloak/scan, then you can't really do much "better" even if you were active(granted, you would be able to put up firewalls).
The only thing that can be done better is to flux the planet that was crit hacked.
With that said, if planet protection is in place, we can do w/o hack protection completely. Otherwise, a anti-crit hack protection will suffice.

As for planets, I don't like full protection of planets generally, so I would like that nerfed:
1. any planet that have been attacked in the last 3 days does not enjoy this protection.
2a. after vacation ends, for 48 hours you cannot flux, flux probe any planets. Also, Xecti Pathway Detector that would have gone off during vacation will not until go off after this 48 hours period.
2b. change period of 2a to 24 hours, but give a notice to all player who have scanned one of the vacationed player's planet upon their return.
2c. Planet protection can only be done by paying a certain amount of GP(advanced vacation mode??). And if done, the planet will not be available in the "scanning pool" during the period of protection.
3. Planet that were scanned/crit hacked recently will not gain protection until 24 hours after their discovery, this does not apply to planet that are scanned/crit hacked AFTER the start of the vacation mode activation.

1 is mostly to prevent vacation being used on any "disputed" planet in general.
2... I want to give a fair window of opportunity to ppl who happened to scan the planet during the time of a player's "vacation". As it is, newly scanned planets always gives priority action to the scanner, that is to say the scanner will usually get a window of opportunity to act(attack) the planet before the holder of the planet can respond, this opportunity should only be increased and not decreased by something like vacation mode as vacation shouldn't "reward" you by "hurting" others.
option c offer a above-par protection, that is it performs better than if you were there to actively defend. hence the GP cost. Note that it is removed from "scanning pool" as opposed to "all scan on them fails" because the latter would be unfair to the scanner as it would waste one of their chances, especially if they only have say 10% or less chance of finding a planet in the first place, that would be 50+ energy went poof for no reason(from the perspective of the scanner).
3 specifically target planets that were recently scanned just a tiny bit before a player puts on protection. Again, a fair window of opportunity for attack should be provided, especially if the scan went undetected. Note that if it was detected, the planet can always be fluxed/stone-walled before the player leaves for vacation so this doesn't hurt the vacationing player more than it "should".

Overall, here is my view on each of the functions of vacation mode:
No upkeep: YES
No production: YES
Disable Protection: None
Raid Protection: None
Hack Protection: anti-crit only OR None(in case of Planet protection)
Planet Protection: None or limited

Now, for all intents and purposes, disable/raid/hack protection doesn't really do a lot and I'm just stating the "should have" sort of things. It won't really affect the game much if their were full protection on those 3 and I won't really care.
HOWEVER, planet protection needs to be limited, as full protection just feels wrong to me. Personally I feel 2c to be the best compromise, perhaps make adv vacation the one that offers full disable/raid/hack protection to make it more of a "package" deal~
