 planet scanning power

if anyone can figure out what my scanning power would be, i appreciate it.

i have 4 tachyon scanner mark 3:446 power each scanner, all together is 1338.
plus 627 from other stuff on my ship.

so total i have 1965 scanning power without artifacts.

i will use the following artifacts on my scanning:

tachyon cylinder: add 50 scanning
subspace seeker: add 175 scanning
Continuum Beacon: increase scanning by 15%
stryll seeker: increase scaning by 10%

and i know exactly 222 planets on my scanners

For starters 4 tachyon scanner would be 1784 scns, not 1338... I'm not sure if ur "1965" is including the correct amount.
You should ALWAYS use 5 scanners tbh, so ur scans should be higher.

Buf for the intend and purpose of ur current scan power.
u should apply the buff in the order they are listed, I head that using +constant first will allow +% to also buff a % of the constant buffs.
Ur scan should be:
(1965+50+175)*1.15*1.1=2770

At 222 planets, I would guess ur chances to be "poor", should only get 1 planet for every 5-10 scans or so.
It would be best if you put on 5 tachyon scanners, that will give you at least (2230+50+175)*1.15*1.1=3105 scans, which will give u a better rating.

I think that's about it~ need more detail on ur "stuff"

unless the game has changed you wont get any percent mods on the tach cylender the subspace or each other

i know this cos my figures were always wrong when i worked scan out until i worked the math backwards and used 1 boost at a time always percent mods last to make sure

thats the only usefull thing i can add sorry dont know anything really about planet to scan ratios as i thout it was around ten times the amount to have good but its changed as i scanned more now a 2500 scan wont get me a gaood ratio much afetr 200 planets

They are calculated in the order they are applied, and the rounded number is the number the game is showing me

Edit: With reverse order (which happens to be alphabetical order, by the way)

current scan 5381
+15% continuum beacon = 6188 (actually 6188.15)
+10% stryll seeker = 6807 (actually 6806.965)
+175 subspace seeker = 6982 (actually 6981.965)
+50 tachyon cylinder = 7032 (actually 7031.965)

TIP: If you filter your artifact list with the word "scanning" and click once on the Artifact column to sort alphabetically... you can apply your 4 common scan-boosting artifacts in the most efficient manner by starting at the bottom and working your way up

thanks lycan must just be me then and nope i put the things on with permas first it was out with the 10 % by 22 -23 after the tach and subspace wee on first and gave me the same when i put on in order cont then tach and subspace must just be me lol

alright if i added another scanner giving me 5 scanner and using the artifacts in the same way. what do u think ill be at? (good, okay, average, or bad)

ratings are irrlevant...

ur chance to find a planet is roughly 1-(1-scan/(10*scanned_planet))^2
that is, ofc, hardly exact... I'm sure somebody have better formulas... but that's about it from my personal experience. even within same rating, ur chances are not the same.
so if u have say 4k scan with 200 planet, I would say ur chance is~ 1-(1-4000/(10*200))^2=1-(1-4000/2000)^2=1-(1/2)^2=75%

each extra tach III will give u 564 extra scan power after buff. u can try figure out ur chances

yes your equation is way off.... 1-(1-5381/(10*414))² ≅ 92%
However, I get "Very Poor" as my scan rating.

Very Poor = below 15%, Poor = 40%-15%, Fair = 70%-40%, Good = above 70%

oops, my head wasn't working right for some reason...
i meant something like 1-(planet_scanned*10/scan)^2


but still~ that is wrong... it seems easier when it's the first few planets and harder later in term of scan:planet ratio so it's probably more complex. maybe the amount of scan is like scan^.8 instead of justing flat scan~ and planet_scanned have a smaller modifer, I really dunno.

It just seem to get impossible for me as my # of planets approches 1/10 of my scan power now. But a low lvl can get almost 100 off of 600ish scan. My last blitz was with 4200 scan or so, and it became ~1/10 chance when I hit ~370 planets

Kinda wanna a list of the minimal required scan at each # of planet to perform next scan, that would probably give a good idea on the ratio effect between scan and planets.... and % chance can be figured by probably some % of max possible planet and current... anyone with data?

But still, rating itself is irrlevant when u don't know the rating but know the scan and # of planets. The game calculate chance first and then display a rating.
I would say with full tach III and buffs, u can get 280-330 planets w/o too much trouble. so u probably should do a bltiz after putting on 5 sensor.
