Rank 33 Hired Convoy V Abilities None Attack 250 Defense 150 Cloak 500 Hull 600 Shield 600
My stats: Attack 66 Defense 57 Hull 90 Shield 20
I spend 5 energy, I do 5-10 damage to his shields. We'll assume 6 for easy math, I need to spend 1000 energy assuming his shields don't come back at all. I started off with maxing the weak +20 shields, then switched to hull after the shields were maimed. I have all 8 weapon slots filled with the research I did overnight after my friend fought one of these at rank 31 or 32 and the combat stats were 60 attack and 60 defense. THIS IS INSANE. I feel completely ripped off.

We might both just quit. He invested in Galaxy Points by doing offers so Dan gets paid for the parts of the great game he built, minus this issue.

Is that 3-loot drop boss or extremely rare type? I don't know about low rank NPCs. If it is then it's generally harder to take down. If it's 3-loot NPC then your attempt to solo it will be harder as expected and you'll need legion to help you out.. 3-loot drop NPCs are designed against 3 players.. Extremely rare solo NPCs are designed to last long within 24 hours against solo, strong player.. Common NPCs aren't an issue at all.

The base scaling for this particular NPC was set a bit too high. We've adjusted it to match a bit closer to other NPCs at that range. Good luck.

He did the mission, killed the Hired Convoy, but didn't get the loot. We're both upset.

Maybe after I spend the research from the next 30 hours on weapons I'll get a better ratio on energy: damage. Still getting 5 energy = 5 damage. Perhaps the stats didn't update, don't know. I'm getting 162 research per hour, getting 3 levels of laser weapons will take approximately 19 hours at which time I might stand a chance at beating him.
No, Legion is not allowed to help. This is the mission "reward" after doing 50 missions at 25 energy each on A Stryll Target. My friend AhrimanZora killed it and got nothing. We both switched research, cashed in our minerals early, etc to become more combat oriented for this mission and we both fail in different ways.

Try some debuffers on it (Drannik Saboteur/Dark Void Foci) and repair yourself with the help of your friend/legion. However, having Heavy Mass Driver as best weapon at level 30+ is kind of weak. Not that it makes a HUGE difference tho. I'm still trying to discern how attack vs defense works and all I can tell you is that it doesn't make much sense to me. Yet.
Edit: So 5000 RP later and an upgrade to weapons I hit the NPC for basically the same amount. Can we get an answer how does it work ? I mean clearly we are talking about a double cap on damage. Number of weapons (eight) and amount of damage. It's extremely relevant to the lower tier players. Later Edit: This particular NPC proved to be nothing but a walk in the park. My stats were 98 defense and 339 attack. Did it in 3-4 full repairs without any debuffs/buffs.

I find combat to be a bit of a luck based game for the most part, it's somewhat lame in a way It's satisfying but it does drain you sometimes when you unload and it barely scratches your enemy.

You can have more than one convoy though, can't you? I thought up to 8 can show up on the battle tab... How does that work anyway? Let's say I can see only 4 targets at a time (the Glaviz Incident) then I complete the Stryll Target 8 times... What happens then? Will I lose 4 convoys? Thanks!

mission reward NPCs are not limited by NPC slots on the battle tab, so you could have all 8 in the tab at once. However, they still count as NPCs in scanning range, so if you have more Hired Convoys than slots, no ordinary NPCs will show up untill you clear them.
