 An artifact that helps counter the Anti-PVP Additions

Name: Trap Beam Device (Not that creative, Meh)

Cost:
CT Lab Artifact

Description:
Disables the enemy from using ANY trap for a period of one minute. This artifact is unable to be used if the player is guarding a planet that is under the state of "Recently Attacked" or "Under Attack".

The artifact isn't that overpowered, as they can still use restorers and nanos etc, but it gives PVP a little bit more ease. Also, the time frame isn't that long, So it will not affect them too much. Because this would be an extreme disadvantage to players, it should be void when someone is attacking a planet, as shown above..

Good idea for a CT Lab item, but I'd make it something like:

Chaff Decoy - Removes one trap (not trap effect) at random from any ship.

Still gives a defending player a chance to have some defensive traps active.

+.05 how about it removes all negative effects and for that same min they are immune to enemy devices last thing we want is more of thos annoying spammers that can can only get u by lagging u with arties :roll:

+1 .. but I would remove the limitation of guarding a planet .. just because you are guarding a planet shouldn't mean you can trap spam if you get hit by this .. if its a ct lab arti its going to take 100 artifacts to make one anyway so its not like it will be able to be overly abused..

And .. if you wanted to even it out a bit

Make another arti that allows you not to be targeted by harmful artifacts for 1-5 minutes as well (think dbombs, emps, flares, clouders, anti trap rays from above.... can still be hit by traps).. or even a trap with the same effect that triggers upon being hit by a harmful arti..

How am I suppose to get rid of my krios and omnicron traps? I usually can at least go through a set of each before the person realizes I a on, and if they are persistent/thickheaded 10 or more. I might as well sell or scrap them if this came out.

It would be a CT Lab artifact, So technically they would have to use Traps or something else to make them, So they might be valued.

Hmmm.... Let's see.... If you've got a full or nearly full CTL, 36k-38k rp/c... Yeah, not worth it. If you have a half full lab or less, you're going to be pithed if you get this instead of something good like the velox or aegis or pretty much most of the other recipes. The Concord station and Governance probe are crap discoveries IMO, and this would be on par with those. Ok, so you can't spam KVT's for one minute or however long. Spam shield restorers or nanos until you can. If someone is online to spam KVT's, it's kinda silly to keep after someone by burning all that energy. Once you're in the clear, just go buy more nanos and restos driving demand for them up (making them even MORE expensive). Afterwards, the victim is going to have the same sense of being violated that they get when someone tosses a CM or TIB at them. You're going to wake up in the morning or come home from work and find yourself zeroed by your target.

If you're looking to counter the Gemini and Trinity PvP "killers" (which I would say I agree with), I'd much rather see that CTL discovery be an anti-Gemini deflector or anti-Trinity disruptor ship mod. Something that reduces the effectiveness of them without completely negating the effort/money spent getting those protective devices. And even that would have limited usefulness to mid- to low-rank legions.

+1 for the concept of improved PvP balance.
-1 for this specific idea though.

umm...use a null? -1

creating a whole new item for a purpose thats covered already by another just distracts dan from creating and improving current and new content.

-1 just another way for higher ranks to get easier kills and making it a CT lab item compounds the issue. cuttig off lower ranks from obtaining it if you want to make it an arti that can only be used on someone ABOVE your rank and has attacked you in the last 24 hours (like gift to the naughty) that is more acceptable.

It SHOULD be hard, its called a fair fight, and if players dont want to engage in PVP, and just do missions and NPC's without getting farmed by players 200+ ranks above them, with no possible defence, how is that fair. players that want to PVP should be doing it with equal opponents, honourably in stead of stepping on lower ranks

might wanna disable shield restorers and repair nanos too

otherwise you probably still won't be able to disable them

One major flaw in regards to higher leveled players is those that have hoarded to be able to make a group preventing you from using traps whenever you repair.

.....one is sendable one isnt.... whats your point?

if a low rank complains about cargo issues everyone says QQ get more arti... if you want more nulls, get more arti... there is a system in place that works....disabling people offline is easy. disabling people online is hard...as it should be.

im ok with this idea as long as the nonsendable item used in the creation of this item is like 25 null fuses 8-)
