You make a good point with the points and I think you have a good idea there, but like I've said, I don't want it to be an every day thing, I want it to be the type of war that gets posted all oer the forums, with screenshots of people being zeroed and bases being destroyed like in the Dyso/Dominion war.

Your idea is awesome but IMHO it would take a rewriting of the core game engine.

What if...

The War Declaration Challenge/Accept Challenge button is made available to leaders. Declared War state makes the ships of opposing sides more likely to appear in the each other's Battle Tab. (Rationale: A legion at war may actively seek any ship of the adversary.) Maybe also the bases. Things would return to normal once any side presses the Surrender button (available to leaders after Declared War state is on).

This way, the change to the core game engine would be minimal. It would suffice for Dan to change the % chance of a ship (or a base) appearing in a BT somewhere. War can go on indefinitely, until one side gives up.

Well, couldn't think of anything better atm.

So scrap the point stuff all together you say? I like it and although that was my original thought, it occured to me that some douchebag legion would just hide behind halycons and not admit surrender, the opposing team wouldn't be able to do anything about it.

Anyway you make it, someone is bound to find a way to subvert or abuse the rules. That is the law of the universe, imho.

That being said, the halcyon strat won't matter much if the chance of a ship showing in the battletab of the legion(s) his legion is at war with is great, than he may get away the first time. But as he shows up much more frequently, someone is bound to find him again, with halc trap spent.

Let's say Dan makes half of the ships showing in my battle tab are from the legion(s) my legion is at war with. Then a ship might escape from me with halc trap; but not from my legion mate who finds him two hours later. With my proposed system, a legion must be at constant vigilance even with lots of halc trap in their command.

Hmm yeah I see what you mean, it could actually work, although it would need a decent bit of lucky timing on both sides :P.
