 CALLING ALL PVP PLAYERS TO SUPPORT THIS IDEA TO DAN!!!

I have seen in the pub and other places in the game to where people....are bored. They want action, and not just a mindless npc or mission. They want real live action from other live human beings.

Pleas people, please get with me on this, as its long overdue,

LETS HAVE A BATTLE ARENA!!!!!!

ok so as to HOW this goes, we all probably have some great ideas. so PLEASE feel free and list them. As a matter of fact, feel free to list ANY idea that relates to making pvp alive again.

OK,,, SO MY PROPOSAL IS TO HAVE A SCREEN THAT COMES UP AND SAYS OF COURSE BATTLE ARENA, AND HAVE SOME SHIPS BLASTING AT EACH OTHER.

Then, once you click on it and get inside, you can kind of set it up like race horsing system, there will be 2 sides:


SIDE 1 is where you can go to sit with other pilots and BET and TRADE on the battles. Dan could create a screen to where you see 2 ships online, and ready to go at it, and have a countdown for people to place bets on who is going to win!!!

ALSO side one can have a TOP GUN list of the 10 best battle arena ships in the galaxy( well, u can make the list as long or short, depending on what you want, maybe a top 50)

It can also have MEDALS that can be reached when say you win over every kind of ship race, profession, HOW you kill someone, a NO BUFFS medal, an ARTS medal, a LEGION VICTORY MEDAL ( this can be where if 2 legions have something that needs to be settled between them, they can have 5 ships from each legion and go at it,,best out of 5 wins the LEGION VICTORY MEDAL and of course bragging rights. There are many ideas for medals ill just keep it at a few for now as this can get lengthy.

SIDE 2 is where ships can enter in and go to the ONLINE GLADIATOR CHAMBERS, THIS IS WHERE EVERY SHIP THAT COMES IN AND IS THERE....IS ACTUALLY ONLINE AND READY TO FIGHT!!! yes folks the real thing, way better then just blowing up ships that are idle in space with no one on.

They can come in,,check and see who is in there, talk with each other, (kind of something like where are legions have the legion comm for all the member to see, only this one would be bigger and everyone in there can see.

then when 2 people want to duel they can have DUEL SLOTS, where one ship enters it, then waits for the other to enter it,,,, then when they both enter,,,,,there is an announcement on SIDE ONE that the 2 ships are gona fight.... then everyone who is in side one gets one or 2 minutes to place bets on whos going to win, then, when the betting timer is up, there is a 10 second countdown, and BAM! they go at it!!!

***NOTE*** ALSO LIKE I MENTIONED THERE CAN BE A LEGION VS LEGION AREA where the best say 5 of each legion go against the other 5, this seems tricky but i feel can be done.

Now, i have alot more to say, but ill just leave it at that as I wana leave room for others to come in and hopefully give feedback. Please, if someone sees this, spread the word and get EVERY pvp player out there in on this, WE NEED SOMETHING LIKE THIS VERY BADLY.

Benefits of having this:

online live fights 24 hours/day for ANYONE, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME

Battle Arena medals for more rewards

bragging rights ( i know thats important to some, and i think this would eliminate alot of drama. if both aggree to enter, and both have the same stuff to use, then there shouldnt be any, well, you did this stuff, as both will have option to choose HOW THEY WANA FIGHT)

More more overall excitment to game and helping the galaxy grow with new members

Chance to win OR lose alot of credits and arts

Like i said, ill leave this open to hear other ideas, possiblities are endless,,, I have alot of friends on this game and I think its safe to say that alot of us really want something like this,,,,now please dont get caught up on me doing this,,,it doesnt matter,,, what matters is all of us come together and get on the same page and support this. I have been on this game over 2 years and so have others,,,THIS IS NEEDED.

I'm sure there would be some tweaks required but I know a lot of people would love a system like this and it would probably inject some serious life back into the game.

This sure is a great idea but I think it's kinda hard to balance between people' ships (e.g. techs, modules and buffs).

There are a lot of times where I'm online where there's nothing to do because maybe I ran out of energy or just waiting for more. I'm just sitting there waiting for something to happen with nothing to do. Now this...This would bring a lot of life into the game. There would ALWAYS be something to do while you're waiting on energy. Although this would bring a big change to the game, it may be a good thing to try. I know a lot people that would only get online once or twice a day to get rid of energy and clear mineral/artifact/research production and receive base shipment. I think this would have them coming online more and more because there would always something else to do. It may even get people addicted (...even more hehe :D ) and that's what Dan would want I would think. He wants people to play and enjoy his game. This may be a big hit we've got here. Great Idea.

it would be up to the players as to wether or not they want to battle another player,,,, you would see their rank beforehand, at least thats one way of doing it

Honestly, I would feel making a betting system on two ships would be a bad idea. Just for the fact I would think people would try to rig it. Basically cheating people out of there money.

My idea
So, to enter this battle arena you will have to pay a entrance fee (money) and a energy fee (certain amount). Now the entrance fee will come in different commodities (high fee, Medium fee, and low fee) and your energy fee to get into the battle arena will depend on the amount your entrance fee is. Once you have paid for your entrance fee and energy fee you will have unlimited amount of energy during the battle in you are in. At the end of the fight the winner will claim the losers entrance fee ( winner takes all)


Also the balancing system would not be base on levels, but on a person stats. If the arena can not find anyone with a comparable stats it will just say "No players available at the moment within your capability" or something along those lines. You don't want unfair fights between players in which we all know the out comes would be...

This is of zero interest if debuffs are unlimited, highly interesting if they are banned or limited in some fashion in the arena. To satisy both pro and anti debuff spamming camps, I suggest the number of allowable debuffs be a variable both sides can agree upon in advance. I suspect there are some other structural challenges to make real time pvp really work, but would be great if we had this.

I have a lot of questions about how this would work. First about limit/structure:
  • Should there be any kind of bracketing/rank matching?
  • Is there a limit to artifact use?
  • Are shots synchronized/turn based, or real time?
  • Any limit on energy use?
It almost seems best to set it up so that once both ships are slotted in, the game just runs through the rounds automatically, no traps or post start artifacts allowed. Have different rule sets for what artifacts (if any) can be used beforehand.

- rank brackets
- entry fee of energy, credits and artifacts (valued at AP value) - this allows folks to unload the less desirable artifacts in their cargo holds
- unlimited use of artis (all opponents are online) - artifacts used up in the arena are used up - OR - allow the purchase of arena-only equivalent artifacts for credits - makes mining pulls more useful

Sounds like a good idea, though this will require an incredibly large amount of NEW coding to be implemented for it to even work.

I think who you are faced up against should rely solely on your rank. Whether you have 1000 kills or 100 kills or the latest weapons or crappy old ones shouldn't make a difference – gear up and get ready to face some tough opponents.

But, yeah. I like the idea. Not a big fan of the XP gains involved but…

+1 Definetly. In regards to the betting, I suggest you can bet up to 1b, 3b and 5b depending on how much your entry fee was. If the person you bet on wins, you get double back. If the lose... need I say it?

Bracketing/rank matching: ok this can work a couple of diffrent ways, if we want it open, people can come in, see whos online, AT LEAST see the stats that we normally see when we look at a ships stats, maybe keep the ship mods cloaked like they usually are in the game. hehe unless someone gets brave in the battle and fires some clouds,lol I may be wrong, but I think most people like a little mystery involved. But chances are, if you have pvped before, you have seen peoples ship and have a rough idea. also, if , it could be structered on the Gladiator side that when you go in there, yes there could be OPTIONS of fighting people your rank, or within say 20 ranks,, and then a FREE FOR ALL AREA where anyone can challege anyone. would be fun for some davids to challenge some goliaths and see what happens :)

Artifact use/limit: In my opinion arts should be allowed just like they are allowed when you normally pvp, all except for the traps. It doesnt really make sense for traps to be in an area where your going head to head, yes traps make sense when your out in space and have to take precautions, but the arena is diffrent. Its a Gladiator type style where you come in with your ship, putting on the mods the way you want, and going for it.

To the people who dont like debuffs, listen, some people just want it to where they say " ok, i have built my ship up, because i have a big artifact/hour income, and i want to fight solely based on that. Not to offend people but man, thats just not the way this game is structured. It never has been. When I used to play Street fighter in state tournaments, some people used to call 'throws" very cheap and they didnt want throws, but thats how the game was designed. truth is BOTH PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME OPPOURTUNITY TO USE THE SAME ARTS, SO NOW IT BECOMES MORE STRATEGY AS TO HOW YOU FIGHT. There is no strategy in saying "my ship vs your ship, and we use nothing and sit there and fire and see who wins,,,lol thats rediculous,,,lol again not to offend anyone but yes, your gona have to use strategy.....when to shoot, when to defend.....when to repair, when to buff,,,, when to use cages,,,,when to shoot arts.....ALL THESE OPTIONS ARE WHAT MAKES IT FUN! otherwise it would just be 2 people standing there with guns, shooting each other,,,nothing else, and seeing who dies first,,,lol there is no fun in that, and it doesnt fit the game design at all,

this game is alot about strategy,,,, some freeze play,,,, some slow rank,,,,,some power rank,,,,,,some create energy ships,,,,,some just missions,,,,,, the BATTLE ARENA is for pvp , hehe i never never seen 2 gladiors just stand in front of each other and swing swords,,, they are usually ducking defending, then hitting, you know, changing it up. This is how im SUGGESTING it should be

artifacts can be unlimited for both sides,,, I really like some ideas being mentioned, you could pay energy and/or credits for entering in, then when ur in,,, and when ur fighting,,,, ALL ENERGY, ARTIFACTS ARE UNLIMITED! this would be soo much fun,,,,,it would take pvp to a whole new level, plus it would give some of the smaller ships that dont have big arts supplies to have a chance and see how much fun it is to have all those things and in abundance. Chances are they will want to grow and even spend some money so we win and Dan and his team wins :)

People as I was wrinting this an idea just hit me:

there can be an option to where you can just fight people ship to ship with NO ARTS, or the option to have unlimited arts !!!! I think this is the best of both worlds and would satify everyone. Haivng an options menu for this would not be too difficult to set up, ALL THESE OPTIONS CAN BE ON ONE SET PAGE

And to answer your other question shots should be real time, fighting like you are normally fighting,,,,,

I KNOW I WRITE ALOT, BUT I HOPE I GAVE YOU SOME IDEAS ON YOUR QUESTIONS :)

I bet your idea would be a bit complex with the programming, but this idea get a definite +1 from me. Plus I like the idea of betting, will be an interesting way to accumulate or lose resources. :)

This is most likely the reason why none of the 30 other battle arena ideas have even been acknowledged by Dan.

And betting.... No. Way too easy to put a "fix" in.
