I do have two spots in there that would unlock a new NPC for you to fight the first is at 1000 (which may be to low) Unlocks an elite to fight. The next is at 5000 (which may also be to low) which unlocks a new boss to fight. Then at 10K points I have it where you get to pick from three mods of the groups to put on your ship. This way not everyones ship would be the same since you wouldn't be able to get the other two back. Maybe if he made it a higher point unlock it could be a better mod you could install as well making more what you are wanting power wise.

As I see it unlock means you can now find that enemy randomly in the battle tab, what I suggested would be like what the space entities do, you get a message saying that "_________, Crimson Exterminator has appeared and is approaching your ship." And then you check your battle tab and its there ready, waiting and not going away till you kill it.

Now I really get this idea, after a couple of hundred of levels of just churning through all sorts of common muck, this would give that extra bit of incentive, and breathe new life into NPCing and even the game as a whole.

What i like is it could be introduced in bits and pieces- so that the effect on gameplay can be measured and it can be insured that this does not over power the npc fanatics. at a mere 45k npc kills at level 800 i don't really rate for them

Exactly. I mean at rank 1815 I don't think I would even have many of my NPC's in the 50K range on this. Maybe one or two factions. But is so massive that it will take time to get anywhere with this and you will all ways have something to do. :D
