GP Item to grant instant loyalty to legion .. (credit goes to icedemon but I liked the idea enough to throw it up on the forum) Obviously loss of loyalty is a penalty for legion hopping .. but why not let the ability to get instant loyalty put some cash in the devs pockets :) It could probably be abused but at least it would cost ya...

This better cost a billion GP.

Otherwise, a huge -1 for taking away the only thing that makes you EARN your place in a legion.

Well, considering a person can be in a legion for six days without contributing jack all and still take base shipments.

Legion loyalty helps legions a lot more than it helps the players. All you get for loyalty is base battles and alerting enemy planets. The legion on the other hand, gets bonuses for base defense and production. Making people pay for it, heck that isn't that bad. Maybe the artifact can be changed to a similar artifact as the PTV. Making it so it only reduces the amount of time by one day.

intersting idea, indeed... I would price it min. 200GP per usage.
Or as mentioned above by SixSisters, should remove the period, but make it shorter.. e.g. by 3 - 5 days.
This would have to cost a really lot, to do not screw up the loyalty of members...

Some "obstacles" should not be removed.

I was thinking more along the lines of 20-30 gp .. as stated above the bonus is for the legion and gives the PLAYER the ability to hit a base. My thinking is .. as a player you can spend 20 gp (about 2 bucks) to switch to fixer to boost a base while it is being attacked .. costing a player 2-3 bucks to "buy" loyalty for the ability to hit a base is a reasonable cost ..

With this a player could just run from legion to legion disabling every base that gets locked by gaining instant loyalty and immediately pummeling whatever they lock before moving on to the next one. Not to mention the CT lab access that is intentionally restricted. If Dan wanted loyalty to take less than a week, it would. He implemented the loyalty system for a reason.

at the cost of XX gp per legion switch.. I dunno about you but I wouldn't spend 30 bucks just to hit 6 bases in a couple of hours.. but on a once in a while basis I might shell out 2-3 bucks to get that benefit ONCE

Personally I wouldn't do it either, but the problem isn't the average day to day player who probably wouldn't do it, it's the people who spend thousands of GP and the fact that they now COULD do it. When something like this comes out you have to look at the most extreme possible outcome, which in this case would mean players could bounce from legion to legion farming bases.

As a bit of a side note, supposing this did get through, how were you wanting this to effect alerts? Were you wanting players to still have to wait to alert enemy players and planets? Or were you wanting this arti to remove that limitation too?

This is like saying that the average day to day player wouldn't spend money to buy terraformers/QSE's. But It's the people who spend thousands of GP and that they could have them at their will. It isn't defendable.
HOWEVER
You could make it so it grants you partial loyalty so you can use ct lab but have to wait a few days for bases, if that makes it more balanced.

This is nothing like saying that. If we were talking about adding quasis/terraformers then yes, that would be a perfect analogy. However those are already in the game and are already available for purchase as well as an in game drop that doesn't require spending a single GP to get. Clearly Dan has weighed the pros and cons and has implemented them himself. What we are talking about here is requesting an artifact to intentionally go around a system that the developer implemented himself for several reasons.

EDIT: For the record I would have no problem with allowing partial loyalty so a player could use the lab but still has to wait for alerts/base battles.

I like it. It would add a bit more "mercenary" work for some roaming players.

As someone on walkabout right now, I do miss getting into base battles...

In my mind it almost is, however can see your point saying it isn't.

Good God... What is it with people trying to bypass the limits Dan has set? Someone wants to short-cut their way on Defender Bonus, now Loyalty too?

Loyalty is there specifically to "punish" legion hoppers. In case you weren't aware already, Dan isn't particularly fond of people jumping from one legion to another to another.

I would say -1. although if it did get added maybe have it be an ability after completing a mission chain(that requires some sort of gp) with a 30 day cool down. still -1(even on my idea)

As structured given a potential for abuse - 1.

With a 30 day cool down in btwn uses, I would have less issue with it enough to be neutral on whether to allow.

How about an item that allows instant loyalty to a legion only after you have initially been in the legion for 3 months or more.

Ie if after purchase you leave for any reason you can come back and be loyal.

This could be bought and only able to be used for 1 legion at a time so for example you are in "Legion A" for 3 months you buy instant loyalty item then for some reason you leave.. you join "Legion B" stay for 3 months buy instant loyalty item the one for legion a is no longer valid but if you leave legion b and return you are loyal.

This could be further limited by having a limit on the length of time from leaving that it would be valid for like maybe 1 month.

Hopefully this would stop it being abused.

-1, there should be no exceptions to losing loyalty. You leave, you lose. Period.
