senatorhung wrote: all the high rank players positing that the purger nerf HURTS low rank players are barking up the wrong tree. i had given up on the purger mission because it gave me TOO MUCH xp for my liking. and why the heck would i burn all that energy to get a couple of purgers per rank when i can get 3-6 from my daily arti pulls already ? besides continuing to rank out of the range of desirable npc's ?
to my mind, if the purger mission only took 5 minutes for higher ranked players to rank off of, then Dan did a good thing. i say let this situation stand for a few months and see if autoranking is still a problem. if not, Dan should NOT make any further changes regarding energy levels. Ok, let's put it this way... in the last 3 months I have gotten ~20k purgers from arti pulls and mostly stellar cartography. You are getting 3 - 6 purgers a day, so to be able to scan as much as I have, you'll need to wait 10 years Meanwhile, I will be getting around 25 purgers a day, thanks to my increased arti production, so I will be able to scan more often than you. If you think that's ok, then sure, the nerf does not affect low ranks, all is good... I think it does, but most of low rankers do not know yet

Save up refills and make tons without ever ranking up? needs to give some exp always

What else do you suggest high ranks do? Dailys take 2 mins base takes 2 mins legion missions can take a little longer but once every 3 days Npcing after 2200= pointless without Terraformers Npcing losing any meaning Missions By that point are all done Scanning and purging gave them a way to play and enjoy this game, yes dan has added legion missions but 1 task every 3 days isn't really a challenge to high ranks, haven't found a task that i haven't been able to do in 15 mins.

ok I didn't read the mass of this thread but I would just like to say this. If there is a hard cap or a limit to the amount of energy you can get from ranking up I would like the option of getting all my energy rank points back and replacing them. I have a massive amount of energy for a goal I'm trying to reach and if Dan changes it and I can no longer hit my goal that I've been working on for several months I will be very upset. lol

As we have all been saying Dan needs to put a concrete yes or no to this, this on the fence isn't helping anyone. If there was a hard cap I would be right with you guys lining up to complain. He could make a thread or poll to see where people stand and what solutions they would like best and why.

If they are going to give you good enough energy regen then I figure they will be taking off plenty of max energy. The relays we have are only up to around lv 300 if that. The ones we get from npc don't even deal with max energy and such. If new ones where released for players they would hopefully be for higher levels and take larger chunks out of max energy. It's up to Dan to come up with a solution and balance the numbers better since he can see far more data then any of us can. To rank twice a day a player needs around 10k their rank in max energy and 10x their rank in energy regen. To rank more they would need even higher numbers. The steeper the curve for ranking per day the higher the max energy used by the relays should be.

ok feldshan what rank are you? and how long have you been playing? because you have no clue what you are talking about
AT ALL
more regen isnt enough to fix capping energy the way you're talking about unless its thousands an hour
having relays take more away from max e doesnt mean a thing as you can just take them off when you level...
with 10x your rank in energy, and 0 recharge you can level indefinitely while npcing as long as your ship strength is good enough.

LukeD wrote: Energy Recharge/Reactors - Personally I think that these need changing to increase the amount of energy recharged per hour. 90/120 per hour on its own means having to spend a long time from the game to have sufficient energy for the high rank missions (admittedly this is quite good for those who have a limited amount of time each day to play, but for others it takes too long). getting, more relays solves nothing - but actualy makes things worse if you have maxed your energy production - you get 1 energy every 30 sek = 120 energy pr hour = 2880 energy pr day add + 5 energy charge, and you get 1 energy every 25 sek = 144 energy pr hour = 3.456 energy pr day add + 10 energy charge, and you get 1 energy every 20 sek = 180 energy pr hour = 4.320 energy pr day add + 15 energy charge, and you get 1 energy every 15 sek = 240 energy pr hour = 5.760 energy pr day add + 20 energy charge, and you get 1 energy every 10 sek = 360 energy pr hour = 8.640 energy pr day add + 25 energy charge, and you get 1 energy every 5 sek = 720 energy pr hour = 17.280 energy pr day add + 29 energy charge, and you get 1 energy every 1 sek = 3.600 energy pr hour = 86.400 energy pr day increasing the energy gain from 2880 energy pr day to 8640 energy pr day, would realy make mutch difrence, when you look at how mutch energy you need for a Legion mission NPC mission and if you go beoynd +20 extra charge, the number off enginers you have added to your ship stops to matter

I don't think an engi cap would be a good idea. Because then high ranks (1,000+) would take more than just a couple days to rank up. Unless the cap increased with rank, then a maximum amount of engineers would only upset higher ranks.

Waw, I did read thru all, trying to keep on notes some points. so: senatorhung wrote: to my mind, if the purger mission only took 5 minutes for higher ranked players to rank off of, then Dan did a good thing. i say let this situation stand for a few months and see if autoranking is still a problem. if not, Dan should NOT make any further changes regarding energy levels. webguydan wrote: Tree7304 wrote: There is nothing you can do to stop autoranking unless you remove the free refill you get from ranking. Ok. There's definitely more balance needed here. We never intended there to be a way to have near-infinite amounts of energy. The amount of free refill could scale down at certain ranks. If it STILL has to be, lets try to create together a reasonable suggestion, which would serve the goal but not hurt much, if possible not at all. Summarized suggestion from my view, still valid only if change of "purger misson" would not help: 1) change/increase in xp for ranking up without touching the energy refill after rank up:rank up to 500 current exp bar * 1 (as till now) rank 501-1000 current exp bar * 1.1 (each level require 10% more xp) rank 1001 - 1500 current exp bar * 1.2 (20% more xp required as now) rank 1501 - 2000 current exp bar * 1.3 (30% more xp required as now) rank 2001 - 2500 current exp bar * 1.4 (40% more xp required as now) rank 2501 - 3000 current exp bar * 1.5 ( 50%...) to continue per need... this should NOT be recalculated backwards and a certain notification time should be given PLS2) if the point 1 would not help, due any reason.. lets have special "energy sink" mission from rank 1000 (or 1500) with random reward - relatively low chance (5-10% ?), multiple rewards possible... some would maybe like to have the option of another relay in game Toastar wrote: As a suggestion of a way to steer rewards toward what Dan wants rather than punishing us, what about something like this:
Special Repeatable Mission Task (Maybe doable once per week max)
Costs: 5x your total energy pool/10*current rank at the start of the week (which ever is higher) Gives NO XP
Rewards: 1 Planet slot (Space for planets is the main benefit of ranking, so the player doesn't lose that incentive by doing this) Rewards: Some drops and planet buffs or whatever Rewards: Special Repeatable Mission Task Badges - the only way to buy a bunch of cool stuff in the Special Repeatable Mission Task Badge Store (rather mission store - new modules only for this type of badges)
The cool stuff would have to be pretty awesome, otherwise people wouldn't do it. The player could take longer than a week to finish, but the end cost might recalculate based on their new pool after a week.
3) if STILL not good enough:free energy refill after rank up to be scaled down - suggestion: Which ever is higher: 50% of current max energy or 10* of current rank (capped by max energy) 15000/30000 > 10*1000 15000/30000 < 10*2000 PLEASE try to look at the numbers as these are really 100% open for modification. Would be great, if the argues about rank, experience etc would stay aside.. as eventually, if Dan decide to implement energy refill scale down, it will hurt all from certain rank... eventually each player as we all rank up.

Auto ranking will solve its self in time. on its own. no change is needed.
