Halcyons, for me, don't annoy me because I waste a Null Fuse. I'm more annoyed that there are very few badge-able targets, and that PvP is nothing but a waste of Energy and time. Here it is: If you're using a Halcyon, then there's a chance that it won't protect your ship when it goes off. A bit unfair for the Halc-user, you might say. I agree, it's not really fair for them. So, if you're using a Halcyon, then you're going to be less likely to show up on someone's BT. Calming Amplifiers will still work, so you can use those (people will probably start using them), however I'm not sure whether or not it should affect your chances of showing up on someone's BT. Just an idea that I've not thought through too well. Please, discuss, but no idiots please.

People just need to realize that its a users choice not to entertain your right to disable them, just as its your right to make the attempt. Also... Quote: I'm more annoyed that there are very few badge-able targets... You sir can GTFO... and i mean that in the most eloquent way possible. "Few" badge targets... are you kidding me. I have approximately 20 people at best, that i can badge every 12 hours... although i choose to stick to every 24 hours out of a modicum or respect. The rest tend to want to place eternity halc's on their ship. Now obviously i don't know your rank, but i'd wager its well below rank 2000? Now whilst i can't speak to the targets for that range, i can speak to the fact that there are at least 300+ opponents in the 1800--1020 rank range, i know this because i've seen UnRepentant's action counts... So i can only assume, that a sub-1000 player would have almost 1k badgeable targets... and a sub-500 player would probably have double that too few targets indeed...

My vote for the most sensible answer EVER!!! LOL + 1 Also, I can vouch for there being plenty of targets for anyone ranked 1400 or below.

Sorry, but we're in the same badging range and I never run out of people to badge. Sure I run into the occasional halc, but with diligent use of logic re: action counts and trap probes I probably only run into 4-5 halcs per badge run. and when I do a badge run, I badge until I'm TM locked, typically about 40 kills.
Halcs are fine. Annoying to run into, sure, but useful and obviously wanted.

I'm one of those who uses halcs when I'm not PVP-ing (and why not, they're there to be used). But when I'm on a PVP run, I might go for 3/5/5 or less targets if I have full energy; otherwise I'll look for the 3/5/5+ posse. Even if I set off a halc, it doesn't stop me from targeting someone else.
The whole point of the halc is that it's a TRAP. It doesn't always go off - I'm pretty sure I've disabled some players armed with halcs which I didn't set off. I've also managed once to set off a halc after disabling someone.
It's a chance you take. There's nothing to say someone doesn't have a thetacron trap that'll disable you - would you complain about that too? Worse, someone could be online and surreptitiously repairing their hull (and not shield), so you'd be wasting even more energy. So really, you could theoretically lose about 50 energy by setting off a halc, or lose far more than that because someone's online to keep repairing.

I don't see how someone sitting online and repping has anything to do with wearing a Halcyon. And Kara, we're not in the same range. You're lower than me. You're just at the start of the Halcyon Hell. I'm in the middle of it.

I don't find anything "wrong" with halcyon except it skews my targets on any given day. Haha For example (and this is just an example, it is not a dis to anyone) but tonight I hit PA ship after ship with halc loaded. So, I was forced to take down more EoTS ships than I wanted to in the interest of fairness. About the only suggestion for balancing halcyon I could see would be a cool down timer. Not to thread jack, but suppose you could only load one every 12hrs? Maybe someone else has said that already. I haven't followed all of these halcyon threads. But my overall feeling is that they are fine.

I don't pvp a lot so I'm curious what is the underlying issue. If you have halc do you tend to NOT show up on BT by exclusion, and is the same thing applicable to calming amps ? Or you show up anyway but person has to try to hit you to remove you ? I have not had any problems with using either to avoid attacks while doing stuff, but it is more to avoid possible missile debuffs although most of the high rankers don't missile unless provoked.

would the idiots you were refering to be those of us who use halcs and actually voice their opinions against the continued push to change the halc trap?
if you have no badgable targets, change your scan, stop preying on the 3,5,5 brigade.
either of these would help instead of changing the halc.

Rank 1327; I don't necessarily PVP _A LOT_, but I do it from time to time. I've got about 200 or so ships that just cycle through my BT. I can get through them in a few hours and start over. They leave comms like "again? do you have to hit me every day". Most have a halc set.

Hey Plurvious I'm guessing there may be a correlation between the "again? do you have to hit me every day" part and having a halc set. If the hunters are not taking notice of who they hit and how often, then why should the prey be expected to not use every defense at their disposal? Just because everyone is looking for badges for the new items, it doesn't mean people should have to stay disabled rather than play their own game. Long story short, I like PvP and halcs don't bother me at all, they're just one of those things that happen.

Just a thought, but you know it could be argued that Halcyons actually HELP CREATE badgeable targets.
What are you smoking UnRep?!?! Defend that ludicrous statement!!!
Well, think about it.
If you have some hyper aggressive players who can be online for long periods of time (like me) and they shoot down every target available to them then that removes targets you could potentially hit when you finally log on.
Those of us who have been in legions that were "at war," know exactly what I am talking about. You wanted to participate in the fighting more, but someone else on your side has already mopped up all the enemy ships. Every alert is down, and the battle tab is depleted.
By contrast, Halcyon may "limit" me from getting excesses badges, but if triggered and not re-equipped, then it created an opportunity for someone else to get a badge.

No, Halcs shouldn't be changed in any. They're fine the way they are. People should just see that enemies with 3/5/5 probably have traps on or use the trap probe. I want to be guaranteed six hours of protection from attacks especially when I'm sleeping

Okay, I hear y'all. Let's not change the Halcyon then, but at least consider the idea of people who wear Halcyons being less likely to show up on someone's BT. It makes everyone happy, doesn't it?
