Would it be a good suggestion for any player that goes inactive for 2 weeks, their planet's cloak drop 25%... then the following week or two drop another 25%?!
Pros:
Might able to prolong the potential inactive players, until something else strike them
Some of these planets are well cloaked and very possible may never be found
Will be little more positive for the players when scanning for planets
Cons:
Might be a tough project for devs,
Really dunno how many of these planets out there, may not be worth the time tuning it

-1, whilst it would be nice. If someone is going to go away for that period of time and is planning on returning then there is no way to stop their planets being found unless they cover their planet with cloak lol... also the amount of planets of true inactives which are going to be that well cloaked that even without legion bonus still be unscannable will likely be extremely small and so not worth the time for programming it in.

Yeah I give this a big -1.
I have periods of work overseas with no internet access, I would be pissed to return and find my nice planets have lost their cloak bonus and been stolen.

Cloak already becomes ineffective after certain periods of inactivity....

This is already happening to some extent, I have seen proof. Little over half a year ago, I scanned a planet with 3k+ cloak, lots of defense, with an enemy blockade. It was a VM gas with sparse production, that someone had turned into their personal storage closet. All def, resource storage, and cloak. I had no more than 600 scan when I found it- to this day, it still may have more cloak than I have scan. At the time, I was below rank 100. There is no way I should have seen it. Or managed to invade it, on the first try. The owner wasn't in a legion, and was pretty low level to have a colony that old. Still extracting stuff from that planet.
Considering the amount of invasion defense it had, and the normal kind of def, I wonder if the invasion success rate is also affected for planets with inactive owners. I was told (not sure who said it) that cloak breaks after a month of inactivity, but don't hold me to that.
Logically, this checks. Players come and go. So when someone goes inactive, what happens to their stuff? The game can't just get rid of it, what happens if the player logs back in? It has to be saved somehow.
You would eventually (like say, after 4 years) have a lot of planets stored with inactive owners and good cloak/def. This would get worse as more players start playing, then go inactive. So fewer and fewer planets can be easily scanned, and more and more of them have to be saved to the game's memory. That would lead to a decrease in the effectiveness of lower levels' scans, unless more planets were created

Not sure if it just multiplies your chance or just takes away the 90% cap and reduces defense, but defense and cloak defiantly decreases over time.

i remember reading about this some time ago and dan did respond that after a certain amount of time everything starts to drop away so i would assume cloak being 1 of the things or how else are the active players suppose to find any inactive players planet that has say 90k cloak on it with out legion bonus with a 25k scan run lol
