Could this be available to everyone? I am at the point where I've maxed out 2 of the research tiers and have almost finished a third. My problem is that I can't afford any of the objects now available. I'm not sure how much the research contracts give you but there have been many times throughout the game when I would have traded my research for some extra credits. Since this has been put in for those that have maxed most of their research, could it be opened to the rest of us?

I heard the credit/RP ratio was not that high.

I've been told the ratio is low enough that it's only worth your time if you really have nothing left to research. Although I'd still like to see it opened to everyone.

if i dont have enough credits to pay upkeep i'd like the option to trade research for credits. it HAS happened to me before. luckily i got 2 aidonium in my last shipment and it put me over the bar by 200 credits.

I have to agree that the option should be open to all.

balance...there are vast quantities of mineral planets out there...if ur research is so high that u cant afford the tech then ur game is out of balance...perhaps u should switch to the builder class till ur mineral production catches up to u

Most people, even the higher levels have trouble upgrading 8 at once. While I plan to slowly start to install these, 27 bil is probably close to 2 weeks production which will quartered by the added upkeep (estimated). It would just be nice to have a little more credits at time.

I just recently got the research contract, but I'm not finished with all my research. Someone in my legion said that it opened up at around 47mil which seems about right since I'm at 47.7 mil. Btw, I just logged in and saw that there was a button underneath all the research trees that said research contract. I didn't have to do anything to get it.
The conversion rate is 25k credit for 1 research point, which in my opinion is pretty good. It's about 66% of what I'd get for mineral points.
This is great since I'm always running short on credits.

Whether that conversion is even worth keeping RP planets or not depends on how much you get for your rank (mineral value). For me , 1k minerals/hr is worth more than 1B/day, and I'm Rank 672 at this moment (it hasn't changed that much that I noticed in awhile). 1k RP = 24k/day * 25k/point = 600m credits. Therefore, other than keeping some RP in case a new tech opens up (and it would take forever to research, cost a ridiculous amount, etc), I would just switch to mining planets or artifacts (or rather, much like I do now, just avoid getting more RP planets altogether, I already have all mixed RP/AP planets doing max AP).
However, consider the balance implications of a new player exchanging 1 RP for 25k credits. It would have to be rank adjusted.
