For Those Having Issues Loading The Game

Over the past few weeks, numerous users have been having issues loading the game while using Google Chrome. Long story short, this is because Google (and other browser developers) have deemed that SSL certificates (used to verify server authenticity and to encrypt communication between your browser and the game server) from a specific authority are no longer trustworthy:

"We previously announced plans to deprecate Chrome’s trust in the Symantec certificate authority (including Symantec-owned brands like Thawte, VeriSign, Equifax, GeoTrust, and RapidSSL)."

"Starting in Chrome 70, all remaining Symantec SSL/TLS certificates will stop working, resulting in a certificate error"

Currently, the workaround for this issue has been to "use another browser". However, and unfortunately, other browsers will soon also distrust the same certificate authority - thus resulting in the same issue.

It is now up to the developers of GL to fix this issue by obtaining a new certificate from a trusted authority - however, seeing as the certificate deprecation was news quite some time ago and we're still running into issues, I don't expect it to be fixed any time soon.

"Affected" browsers are:
  • Chrome - versions 70 and up.
  • Firefox - version 63 and up.
  • IE/Edge - specific version unspecified.
  • Apple products - will completely distrust Symantec CAs as early as Fall 2018. (specific version unspecified)

Using a browser of a version lower than the ones listed above will ensure you still have access to the game. However, updates are critical for stability and security - thus I strongly encourage people to get in touch with support if they run into this issue. I hope that if the developers are aware of more people being affected then they will finally replace the certificate.

Or you could run GL from https://apps.facebook.com/galaxylegion/. This does not use the Certificate from GL but uses the Facebook Certificate which is a DigiCert issued one and works in Chrome version 70

Still fails regardless of the URL used. It's worth noting that the trust depreciation is not being rolled out to all Chrome 70 users simultaneously, so it may still work fine for some players despite them having Chrome 70. I'm one of the 'lucky' few who was in the first round of the rollout, so it hasn't worked in Chrome for me using any URL for a few weeks now.

Yep. Alternatives to try for those having trouble are firefox or facebook gameroom.
Not ideal obviously, but that's the way it is.

Way back in the day, I remember GL used to refresh itself every so often - just back to the News. Didn't hurt anything, just a "Feature" to get used to. At some point, it stopped. After switching to Edge, it's happening again. I also thought at first that Edge was slower, but I really don't see a big difference after playing this weekend. Other than that one random (maybe like hourly) refresh, everything works. Oh, and I no longer see the "Beta" logo like I did for a bit on Chrome.

I actually updated Chrome on saturday (I waited two days out of fear from this topic) and I can still log in without an issue; just as before the upgrade.

You should be aware that you will run into this issue eventually:

Looks like the issue is fixed now, I'm able to play in Chrome again and I'm getting no certificate warnings either.

I can no longer play in Chrome. I would rather quit GL than have to keep a 2nd browser open

Chrome has updated on my laptop - the certificate in use is still invalid, and I'm stuck in a redirect loop when I try to load the app page. Funnily enough, switching my user agent (I have a spoofer) to a mobile browser allows me to access the game as normal, although I am still greeted by the "This Site Is Not Safe" interstitial.

I found a temp fix for those getting the "this webpage has been removed or permanently moved" problem. I have "fixed" my home and work computers using the method below.

Step 1: Open GL via this link (https://apps.facebook.com/galaxylegion/ ... b_bmpos=_0) and you should get the error. Leave this tab open.

Step 2: Open GL via this link (https://galaxylegionfb.com/galaxylegion/). It will tell you the website is unsafe. Click advanced and click on the link to open GL. GL should load.

Step 3: Refresh the original tab you opened that wasn't working before. GL should start.

***At this point, GL may work for 5-30 seconds before you have to repeat the process. Possible perm fix steps are below.***

Step 4: After Step 3, close both tabs (before GL stops working). Clear your cookies and cache in Chrome and restart.

Step 5: Repeat Steps 1-3. If you're lucky, GL will continue to work and you will no longer need to repeat these steps.

You only need to manage to load the game once on the app page, as this causes Facebook to pass your information to the game (after which a session is established with the game server). Loading it from https://galaxylegionfb.com/galaxylegion, proceeding past the interstitial and then switching to a non-https version of the page should get this working indefinitely.

I had issues where both webpages would stop responding in less than a minute after getting GL up. They would not work again until I repeated Steps 1-3 (first link) or 2 (second link only). It was not until I tried Steps 4 and 5 that it worked indefinitely on both. I would also recommend getting the first link working, which I have, since that link supports the Facebook aspects for those in legions using Facebook messenger.

It appears that the certificate has been replaced, and we're working once more.

I cannot login anymore.. its hit and miss.. their link in fb under "about" has been hijacked.. the one that new players use to enter the game. They need to seriously check their Facebook interfaces. This is more than just a simple certificate error.
If I ignore the certificate error, I can get in and maybe do one action. Sometimes I can retry different URLs and get in. Sometimes if I cycle my hub I can get in.. or swap between android and desktop sites.. . Fb itself is fine. Other games are fine. It's just this one.. and given that their fb website is hacked I dunno... "https://m.facebook.com/pg/playgalaxy/about/?ref=page_internal&mt_nav=0"

That's because underlying requests have the same issue, but it's not visible to you. Once you're in, you need to switch to the non HTTPs version of the site, here: http://galaxylegionfb.com/galaxylegion

This will reload after a few hours, and it'll trigger an error on the Facebook app page, but you just hit OK and rinse and repeat.
