everyone colonizes a planet through the tutorial. The type of planet varies from amazing dyson spheres, to crappy extremely sparse barrens... i propose that instead of having a king of the hill style homeworld, or a personal dyson that everyone can get, i propose that we get a 5% bonus to the resources produced by the planet type we originally colonized.
So if you originally colonize a barren world, then you recieve a 5% bonus to all production recieved from barren planets, if you originally colonized a gas planet then youd recieve a 5% bonus to all production from gas planets, etc.
this would be a way to personalize a gameplay experiance and make some planet types better than others in each players eyes.

This reminds me of the saying... Poor people don't pay taxes.
A percentage isn't really gonna help a starting player who gets a terrible planet.

its more for long term players who colonize various planets of that type, in addition to giving them a small boost on their first planet.

I still say that Dan implements an actual homeworld for each and every race. One that only members of the race can find. And since ya'll shot down my last idea I posted, how about ya'll come up with some ideas for the Species Homeworlds.

i think the main reason people dont want species homeworlds is because with the exception of genetaar, the dysonians or ni will own all of them, and hold on to them the same way they hold exotica.
the reason i proposed a bonus to planet types first colonized is players usually have no idea what theyre doing until they either visit the forums or join a legion with a player around rank 100 (at the bare minimum), and by then theyve already colonized one or two planets. This way players would always get a bonus when they colonize that type of planet, and help them out a bit when first starting.
Although i love the idea for the golden planet as something players can get around rank 10-20 to help them out at first and give them a sort of 'accellerated start' im not sure that something like that will actually be implemented, and thats why i proposed an alternative that will give players a growing bonus over time.

I have a better take on your "homeworld" idea. what if all players got a special artifact called "Intergalactic Capital" (name subject to suggestions) as soon as they passed rank 20 and when you were to place it on a planet It would become your capital planet. The name would be customizable so long as you held control of the planet. If the Intergalactic Capital was removed then the planet would revert to its' original name. The planet would also receive a 5% boost to all resources, defense, attack and cloak. now if a player were to invade your home planet the Intergalactic headquarters would be returned to your cargo to prevent players having multiple homeworlds.

I'm not talking about a Capital Planet, although that would be awesome. I mean a homeworld where the species originated from. It would be nice to have it. They could be the Non-Invadable planets. I just want to see Homeworlds as an actual thing in this game.

This way you can try to take it back over some day. kind of like exotica, you can always see it. so make it a mission quest that rewards you with a capital structure. and that planet you chooses et the monument the will only produce the added bonus if you posses it.

Skaara wrote: i didnt get a decent planet to start so this thing wont be good for me it would be planet type thats affected, for the exact reason youre talking about. my first planet was an average barren very sparse. therefore, i would get a 5% bonus to all production from my barren planets. whereas if your first planet was a very large desert exremely rich, you would get a 5% bonus to all production from desert planets. the exact resource output wouldnt matter. its all about the first planet type that was colonized. Think of it this way. humans are from a 'terra' planet. therefore, theyre looking for other terra planets to colonize, because they would be better off on a planet similar to their home planet, than say trying to colonize the moon or mars. in sci-fi terms, they COULD colonize those planets, but they wouldnt feel like 'home'. think of the 5% as a morale bonus that the population gets for living on a planet like their home planet.
