Again you are wrong earth as a surface area of 196,936,994 square miles meanwhile mars has a surface area of 55,742,106 square miles as you can see earth is bigger, and just if you dont believe me check this link http://solarsystem.nasa.gov/planets/compchart.cfmor this one http://www.universetoday.com/35960/size-of-the-planets/

Um no your wrong, the mass of mars overall is bigger than earth, u cant correct me unless you have watched a ton of documenteries on history channel or have gone to colledge to become and Astronemer. I know that Earth may be big, but not as big as any of the planets farther than it in this solar system. Meteors batter both planets, Earth is not as big as Mars. most people would be smart enough to know that, i suppose you think that the Sun is the closest star to earth.

The sun is the closest star to the Earth... Looking it up on Wikipedia, I'm inclined to agree with 235drew. It's not the best source admittedly, but I have little reason to believe you any more than it.

Its the Brightist Star, not the closest , the closest is Proxima Centauri red dwarf star approximately 4.2 light years from Earth. . The next two closest stars comprise the binary star system called Alpha Centuri. Alpha Centuri is 4.4 light years from Earth.

first of all i was talking about surface area, but if you want to change it to mass thats fine, earth as more mass than mars. did you even look at the links. look at them and write how big they are according to NASA, then tell me which one is bigger

Radius: Earth>Mars Diameter: Earth>Mars Mass: Earth>Mars Density: Earth>Mars Surface Area: Earth>Mars
In what way can you possibly say that Mars is bigger/larger than Earth???
Proxima Centauri is closer to Earth than the Sun???
Dude, you really need to put away the crack-pipe and open your science book...

How the hell is mars bigger than earth?? how can the mass be greater than earth?? if the mass is greater it wold have stronger gravity... planets with stronger atmosphere would have a thicker atmosphere, jupiter is a very massive planet thats why it was a very think atmosphere unlike mars...

Come on, no need to read any document to affirm Sun is the closest star from earth, it's OUR star!!!!

I agree with common wealth, i think i saw that on the universe that that"s the second closest star to earth.

I cant stop laughing. Oh and by the way, the brightest star is Sirius. And yes it is actually a binary star. Josh, even though its called smoked ham, it doesn't mean your suppose to smoke it. Quote: The moon crashed into earth a long time ago, causing a chunk to come off and some to meld with the moon where was i? Quote: Mars is Large compared to earth from a man on mars viewpoint Quote: go watch history channel like i do Ah. Theres our problem. Seems a lot on history is crap. FYI the star Aderoid is the closest. It comes within 33million miles. back on subject. More planets can be fun but not if they are just clones of regular planets.
