 An Addition to Diplomacy

How about an addition to Diplomacy...

Surely a group of NPC's you kill aren't too happy about the idea of dieing.
And surely, not all the planets are barren of NPC colonies...
You have a tab appear within the BattleTab that has a chart displaying your diplomacy
with other NPC's/races.

(Example)
Kill some NPCs (eg. T.O.'s) and they like you less, another group (Silthion) likes you more.
You receive less T.O.s on your battle-tab, and more Silthion.
The T.O.s that do appear (which becomes less in number) are a mix of the common/uncommon.
The more T.O.s you kill, the less they appear,
and become more a mix of common/uncommon/rare, with a lessening of the common.

Now, some sort of A.I. could be added where the NPC which dislikes you severely,
could end up attacking you when you come online.

The possibility of appeasing the NPC group with some sort of gift,
and/or attacking an opposing NPC group, and/or a complete halt on attacking them over a period of time
could repair relationships with that group.

The BattleTab could on a Rare(%) occassion, even have a NPC planet appear.
The Planet could be conquerable (also alertable to assist with the assault).
There may be artifacts that could be extracted, and may or may not have a share/send option attached.
The Defense and Attacking modules on the Planet could be restricted in some fashion,
as to whether or not their functionality would continue if at all. And whether or not they could be extracted.
Though whether or not it could be invaded by others in the legion?.?.?

NPC factions are fringe groups anyways, who cares if they like you.

This is a good idea. It adds more of a realistic touch to the game. Yeah if you att a member of a group, there should be an effect with that group, and/or a group that is against them.

interesting idea, maybe certain missions if certain NPC races like you, or if you piss one group off, they can attack you or just appear on your battle tab a lot more, also might bring up the idea of NPC planets

The percentage tweaking would be the governing factor to the change.
Under this scheme, the "Good" NPCs are rarer until you end up in their bad books.
Why get out the big bat, to swat a little fly that has only flown by?

i could see where this would have some good applications in the game. the only thing that would need to be changed, is there would have to be a common NPC added for each faction that would show up. That way, the more of a certain faction you kill, the more you get rares and elites to show up. Like if you attack a legion. if you kill enough rank 100s, sooner or later the rank 300 is comin to take you out. You kill enough of a specific type of NPC, then their hostility towards you raises. at different levels, the commons become more difficult, but you have a chance to find rares and elites more often from that group. So if you kill 100 Hawks, then Flamehawks appear, along with making Korteth, Vortul, and Scrap Carriers more common. but if you leave em alone long enough, then the elites will stop showing up as frequently and youre back to hawks and overlords. The same can go with all the other factions. An easy normal version, a harder hostile version, and along with that more common elites and rares. Obviously the Silthion and TO are gonna be the most sought after, but i can see where this would be really cool.

Ok NPCs might not be fring groups persay. But they are not full active groups either. There role is in part to push us forward making us over come challenges that in turn help us in the main game (missions, PvP, and controlling planets).

NPCs are the treasure keepers, the things you carefully hunt down for there booty. So you can go back and have a good time knocking some schmo into the next life. They are the things that help the higher levels stay around till others get within range. Either way they are the glue that is helping the game stay together.


Now while not a Diplomacy option becoming a member of said NPC group in part to unlock teck (and in turn adding missions). Is a nice idea, just not how your idea is going.

The thought of being aligned with or against NPCs for missions is a good addition, to the main body of the idea.
Though, becoming a member of a NPC faction... We have legions for membership.

The changes to the game wouldn't be that much, if NPC membership was implemented (Planetary Defense, Alerting Enemies, etc etc)
The likelihood for that though, is low.

If you are going to have this sort of NPC alignment/relationship feature, then you should also implement relationships between the NPCs too.

Pair each NPC race up so that they have an enemy and an allied race (or maybe different numbers of enemies and allies according to the RP story behind each race) - so that when you destroy an NPC ship you not only lost reputation with that race, but you also lose it with that races allies, but gain reputation with its enemies.

It’s a good idea so +1 but i dont think reducing the number of npc's from a particular faction as u destroy them is a good idea, instead i propose when you piss off a npc faction enough they spawn two boss's in your battle tab (Matched by rank with a dominance of defence not firepower), they only disappear once destroyed and they both have to be eliminated before regular NPC can spawn.....

+1 to this, the more you piss off a group, the more extremely rares of them you get! Like they have a bounty on you, and it would make NPC farming easier!

Everyone realizes that when you kill an NPC that they would come back for revenge so you would get more.... This is like Karma good and bad , it sucks in games, ive played it for fallout and the Karma sucks it basically makes everything you do bad.
