I have this idea of applying race and profession bonuses to the base. This would give more importance to the race/profession chosen by each player. Each player will contribute a percentage that is 10% of his/her normal bonus and apply it to the base or base related activities. As you can see, some races and/or professions don't translate well.
Aerlen - +3% base defense for each Aerlen
Konqul - +2% base attack for each Konqul
Inergon - +1% base energy for each Inergon (???) or maybe -1% energy requirement for base upgrade for each Inergon in the legion?
Sillixx - +1% base size for each Lizard
Vygoid - +2% base research bonus for each Vygoid
Human - +1% base xp for each human in the legion (???) or maybe +1% xp when attacking enemy bases?
-----------------------------------------------------
Drannik - +4% attack bonus for each Drannik when attacking enemy bases
Genetarr - +5% defense bonus for each Genetarr when attacking enemy bases
Taltherian - has the ability to improve legion base artifact production by 1% every 40 hours. Production bonus is reset when base is disabled.
Zolazin - +4% cloak bonus for each Zolazin when attacking enemy bases
Mylarai - has the ability to improve legion base mineral production by 1% every 40 hours. Production bonus is reset when base is disabled.
Lazuli - +5% base hull bonus for each Lazuli in the Legion
-----------------------------------------
Builder - -5% legion base upkeep for each Builder (maybe there should be a maximum bonus limit)
Excavator - +1% base artifact production for each Excavator
Explorer - +2% base scanning for each explorer (???) (maybe +2% chance to critical when attacking enemy base)
Fixer - +3% base hull for each Fixer in the legion
Hacker - +3% hacking bonus for each Hacker in the legion when hacking an enemy base (???) (maybe something else instead unless bases can actually be hacked)
Merchant - +5% base cargo space for each Merchant in the legion (???) (assuming bases are going to have cargo spaces)
Miner - +1% mineral production bonus for each miner in the legion
Physicist - +3% base shield for each physicist in the legion
Raider - +3% raiding skill for each raider in the legion (???) (assuming enemy bases can be looted)
Spy - +2% cloak for each spy in the legion (???) (or maybe +2% cloak when attacking enemy bases)
------------------------------------------------
Biologist - +3% bonus population to the legion's planet (wherever that may be lol)
Saboteur - saboteurs are intereted in sabotaging the enemy legion's planet (if they could actually find one)
-------------------------------------------------
Masseuse - bases are 2% more relaxing for each masseuse/masseur in the legion
----------------------------------------------------
More weird ideas. What if certain race or professions have specific functions only they can perform in the bases?Aerlen Operations Sector - Can be charged by Aerlens only. They have to stay in this bay for a specific period of time before it can be usable.
Konqul Strategists Sector - Can be operated by Konquls only.
Inergonic Recharge Bay - Can be operated by Inergons. Gives bonus energy before heading to war.
Pysch Amplifier Stations - Can be operated by humans.
Vygoid Research Sector - Can be operated by Vygoids.
-----------------------------------------
Espionage Center - Zolazin, Spies and Hackers
Biosphere - Biologists only (What it does, I don't know)
Ordnance Bay - Saboteurs only. (Ships who stayed here long enough will gain a special ability that gives a one time heavy attack to an enemy.)
Depot - Merchants only
-----------------------------------------
Officer's Lounge - Officers hang out here (lol)
Massage Parlor - Masseuses and masseurs hang out here

PS. There is no masseuse/masseur profession in the game but I would want one in our base.
