have some affiliation with npc factions with bonuses for the legions affiliation
ex.crimson blades atk bonus
shadin coalition cloak bonus
terran outsiders 5%xp
zolazin scanner bonus
edit:drawback is you can't attack that faction and no backsies

If you affiliated with the crimson how could your legion justify farming them for cannons?
Same goes for any other faction that players farm for artifacts and parts. There are other factions though that the "player" sides with through missions.
Those might be possible options, but for something like this to work I think you would need some give and take. What is the draw back or down side?
Does a legion treaty with a faction require % of base rewards or something of the sort? Just a thought, I like the idea you should build on it more.

The best way to use this idea is to make new groups just for this.

was reading and you can have friends in a species and still have enemies of the same. oh you could make it so some groups have a enemy that will spawn more and ther own will spawn less. maybe give a ability to the base when they are attacked. like the dark commands and such.

While affiliations with the NPC factions/races is not planned at the moment, the next update will bring special bonuses/abilities to the base depending on certain factors that your legion has met, including the membership of certain races/professions.

I hope this brain child of yours Dan bears a whole lot of fruit. Since I could see what I suffested in this thread as a later add on. Ones made just for this, if not somethin related.

I hope you got carried away and are having a lot of fun. Which would mean if when you perfected it the game will change. Likely tell a trulu focued legion vs those that are jus around (though you can tell that now prety well).
