Mission Briefing:

Standard Mission Length: 3 days

The Carthyne Institute has sponsored a symposium on experimental planetary sciences. Topics include hydrodynamic escape, accretion funnels, and subdimensional expression. Given the diversity of the other attendees, there should be quite a bit to share and discover.

Rewards (If Successful): 4 Relic Badges (awarded to all ships with completed, non-failed tasks)

(RESTRICTIVE TASKS): One or more tasks in this mission require specific races or professions.

These are Awarded when the mission time expires, as long as at least 15 legion members complete One task of the mission.

Mission Length: 72 hours Cost to add 1 hour: 8 GP Cost to remove 1 hour: 8 GP

Comm Log

Welcome to Carthyne. This program serves as your personal guide during your stay.
Thank you. We appreciate the invitation.

Event participation has decreased by 18% since its last iteration, but your team should be quite busy nonetheless.
Why the drop in attendance?

During the end of the last session, it was discovered that the Rogue Science League had taken the spot for 2 other guests. This has made some of our sponsors uncomfortable.
I thought that the Institute's attendees were heavily screened…

We have since improved our security protocols.
I see.

In addition, all sessions now require mandatory participation. We invite only those that have value to share.
We won't disappoint. Our scientists are some of the best.

If the symposium is to return to its former distinction, this iteration must be a success, and the RSL must not interfere.
Do you require assistance with them?

As a matter of fact, yes. Are there members of your team that can part from the sessions this time?
Certainly.

Excellent. Please report any activity to either myself or another program on staff.
Will do.

Enjoy the symposium. Please contact me again if you require any assistance.

Tasks:

(At least 15 members must complete one of these tasks)

Task 1: Research Hydrodynamic Escape

(RESTRICTIVE TASK)

A section of the event is devoted to advanced experiments on gaseous worlds. Assign some explorers, physicists, or governors to this event and help participate.

  • Note: Must be at least Rank 300 to start this task.

Requires: 500 Energy, 1 Tesseract Container, 10000 Research per round, 20 rounds per completion.
Completion Requirements: 10,000 Energy, 200,000 Research, 20 Tesseract Containers.
Rewards: Chthonian Exchanger (1 on completion)

Task 2: Perform Cybernetic Link Experiments

(RESTRICTIVE TASK)

A group of researchers will be sharing details on methods to directly interface with remote enemy installations. Cyborgs (or a skilled Genetarr) will be needed to participate.

  • Note: Must be at least Rank 20 to start this task.
  • Note: Must be Vygoid, Zolazin, or Genetarr race to start this task.

Requires: Use a Cybernetic Remote Link on an enemy planet. (500 Energy per use) - provides ZERO xp

  • Note: Cybernetic Remote Link can ONLY be used on enemy planets that have either a Relay Tower Chassis or Spy Uplink Chassis installed.
  • Note: Enemy planets alerted by those in your legion CAN BE USED toward progress of this task.

Completion Requirement: 20 rounds per completion (10,000 total Energy required)

Rewards: Cybernetic Link Interface (1 on completion)

Task 3: Restrict RSL Activity

The Rogue Science League will likely try to infiltrate the event again. To avoid another embarrassing revelation, assign your team to confront any RSL ships in the area.

  • Note: Must be at least Rank 20 to start this task.

Requires: Disable any Rogue Science League enemy. 30 enemy kills required

Rewards: 3 Relic Badges (on completion)

Models of Success

The following table shows the kind of participation/progress shown to get varying types of success chances. Please note, This is a work in progress and data is in process of being collected (see forum topic).

There may be instances where it seems like there is a big gap in the number of ships on a task. This is not necessarily a requirement, only the most current data available. There may also be different combinations of spread that bring these chances. Partial completions also may be factored in these cumulative requirements. Alternate combinations will be recorded and posted as well in an effort to record the minimum amount needed for varying chances.
