Remember how on Star Trek, you hear an alarm blare when a Red Alert occurs?

Just lately, DRACONISE attacked me while I was on a different browsing tab. I never got any notification.

If you've used IRC, you know how on some clients, a sound will beep for you when your name is highlighted, right? Well, may we please have that as soon as an attack happens?

(It would be on by default, then turned off if the player decides to.)

The game would be fairer for the defender this way. Thanks. - Asheron

just realize that if it goes by the same alert system as existing popup, chances r u r disabled by the time the sound chimes...

The first pop-up would be either the Krionus Virus or Omicron Mine traps. Depending on my defenses and etc., I would have a little bit of time to take care of the situation. - Asheron

No you wouldn't. The refresh would be polled at the same time as it currently is.

The game does not work that way Asheron. Adding a chime to your notifications are as useful as a pop rocket in a fire.

ALL alerts, trap, disable, hack, raid, whatever happen on refresh trigger, and the most frequent of that is energy timer. which means it will check for it once every 30 second.
most ppl disable a ship between 5-10 seconds, so you have 1/3 chance at best to receive warning before disable. and less than 1/5 chance to actually do something before you are disabled(takes time to tab back and either repair or use arti)

Unless your ship is absolutely amazing, probably not gonna help.

And even then you have to be (A) online and (B) paying attention to the GL tab. Agree this idea isn't going to improve anything. Not to mention how many people are playing via smartphone, listening to music or playing with the mute button on so they don't get caught at work/school.
