I think that there should be some sort of rank limit determination for your success at invasion.

Something along the lines of if the person is below 1/3 of your rank, or above 3x it, then your chance at a successful invasion would be cut down to 1/10 of what it would be. This will make things like a rank 965 taking a planet from a rank 140 a bit rarer. The exception of course being inactive players.

It just seems a little fairer than say, a very lucky rank 30 who managed to find an awesome unoccupied planet close to starting, but still not really having much in the way of planet defence, trying to fend off someone who is over 100 ranks above them.

Feel free to expand on this and I will add any ideas that seem good below. Also, when you post, please post your rank.

This is hitting the nail on the head for what I'm getting at.

The way i see it is if a rank 1000 scans a 3x Mega Rich occupied by a Rank 20 who just came off beginner's protection what chance does the rank 20 have of ever seeing that planet again? The lower rank means you have less research done which means the lower ranked player cannot defend his planet whatsoever and he also stands NO chance of ever getting his planet back.

Look at it the other way if the rank 20 scans a planet controlled by a rank 1000 he has ABSOLUTELY no chance to take the planet.

The question isn't weather you think there should be a proportionate percentage decrease as the rank difference increases. The question is weather it is fair to the new members.

My opinion is that it is not fair. What Solnya is proposing is something that might even the odds for the lower ranked person. it wouldn't completely prevent the upper ranked member from taking the planet but it would make it harder.

Rank 138

rank really has very little to do with attack strength... so realistically if this change occured it would negate all the hard work and development that has been put into this game because people would hit say rank 250 and never rank again just collect artis and such. punishing those who work for what they have seems counter productive.

i am level 300 and i want to take a planet form a guy that level 1000 that is not defended at all.
Normally i would have a 90% chance to take the planet. with the the delimiter i would have 9%.

How would it negate development? And if rank really had little to do with attack strength, why put the rank restrictions on the red, badges?

Also, your rank?

The idea of putting both a lower and upper limit on it is because if you took that planet, then they wouldn't have much of a chance at getting their planet back now would they because you would be below the 1/3 threshold. Although, if you ranked up 33 times, you would be within that threshold, and thus get a better shot at the planet.

Also assume the reverse situation. You had a very good planet, and a rank 1000 had scanned it, this would protect you from them taking your planet to a degree.
EDIT: You're rank 300, Suppose you had an awesome planet, one that you thought you had defended really well. A rank 1k decides to take your supposed awesome planet, and then triples the defensive and offensive capabilities of said planet just by replacing the offences and defences you had on there. Do you think you'd have a hope in hell of taking it back?

I'm rank 249
yours solnya? this sounds like something a person might say if they havent invested as much time as others into this game. and ultimately i would think this would increase multing ten times over. make a few ships for each rank bracket... as for strength.... rank has little to do with it. a good example of a high ranking person with a tin can of a ship. shanebetten.

Shane Betten quick ranked through 200 ranks that i know of his ship is a tin can but that is b/c he PAID for his ranks. also note that fast ranking like that is not common and his ship is unusually weak but he could still easily kill me or take any planet i have just b/c of the extra space on his ship allowing him to install more modules.
as ive stated my rank is 138

Solnya's rank is near 120 and i know for a fact she is on daily and is an active member of our legion

told me what i expected to hear. i had OBs around 150. she can too. instead of saying its unfair that people who played longer (coincidentally making them stronger then lower ranks can take there planets....do something about it. ive had planets taken by psicore... ya simply QQ and find another or get your legion to help you replace it with a similar planet.

best of luck with this feature but i dont see it happening. bad business for dan screwing over the ones who are paying the most (and also making it a free software for all)
