I know it would be alot of work to do and have alot of maintenance. But just a thought. You want to get on because of a War going on and you want to help, or something urgent like your best planet is being taken. You don't have a computer near by. What to do?

Same here in fact with the state of my computer (damn you evil virus man!), its faster and smoother on the dolphin browser on my android. And for all the iphone users, you have an actual browser so don't be complaining that its not running smoothly.

It's MUCH slower than playing it in a web browser on a computer. If it were made, it would probably cost money. I'd be willing to pay up to $2.99, possibly more, on iTunes for such an app. +1

Periods are your friend. They look like this "." To answer your question, wifi is available in many places these days, but not always where a computer will be. Starbucks has wifi, but you will not find a public computer there. Many large chain stores are starting to have wifi, but you will not find a public computer there either. Many people have desktops, but not laptops. Having wifi and having a computer with you are not the same thing. I personally don't play on my iPhone because it doesn't run smooth even on my 4S in the native browser, but if I link to my desktop (LogMeIn Ignition) it works like a charm. So, personally, it doesn't make much of a difference to me. However, it would be useful if it were more compatible with the iPod/iPhone/iPad native browsers.

I'd +1 this, but only if other devs were willing to kick in to develop it, it would be too much for Dan. Not to mention maybe add QNX to the list (BlackBerry Playbook). Buttons work slowly and some of the functionality doesn't work - or barely works - via the web browser. i.e. arrows in research. I'd also agree on the app cost, at 2.99 or so I'd be more than willing.

Although it is some work I don't see it as being that big of a step. In all our sites our company builds now, we use responsive / adaptive CSS, this method scales and breaks the screen depending on what the resolution is of your screen. The problem being that the game would need a new look something that is easily broken into displayable blocks, which is common practice.
Good to know that these technologies are making this kind of thing easier, its a bit harder with a game in its current format but you can still have the same look in a reactive style. I don't want to post examples of this that we have done but Google it find a webpage that is designed using reactive CSS then re-size your browser right down to a tiny phone size screen, you will even see button scaling some elements you may choose not to even display.

This is true.. All though the main requirement would be to modify some of the functionality, which is javascript powered in majority - that's what the primary target issue is for many tablets / smartphones. the GL App would require it's own UI depending on the item it's being accessed by.

I accesssed Galaxy Legion on my iPad, and even then, it lags so much.
Maybe if it is an App, it could have its own script and send out only the information, since the mobile devices do not have the processing capabilities of a computer. Maybe something where you click *Scan Now* and the app sends a request to the server, -5 energy + scan planet 57% chance. That way it wouldn't be so easily modified and hacked, and still offer functionality and speed. I look foward to the day when I can open my iPad, tap the Battle tab, and easily attack without substancial delay.

I would love an ap like this for my ipod. Not to mention it would get me spending some cash on the game if I could purchase gp with itunes credit. (I keep getting itunes credit given to me, but already have all I need in the way of music, videos and what not.) All my credit gets used for now is buying in game credit from sites that have ipod/iphone apps. XD

I don't think it's necessary. mobile devices are starting to get real web browsers now (no, Safari is not a real browser, but no sympathy for Apple fanboys). I play on my droid all the time. Works just fine.

He doesn't have time to worry about a mobile app when the game is already playable on mobile browsers.

The lag some are complaining of here is due to either a computationally weak device or slow data connection, not the game. Stuff obviously loads quicker on my Comcast, but GL works fine on my Verizon Droid or my Laptop wirelessly tether to the droid.

Our data shows that more and more players want to (and do) access the game via their mobile devices.
Our next update will include some significant improvements to mobile play, especially tablets. Specifically, it will automatically launch in fullscreen for devices, which is sorely needed. Stay tuned!
