not having loyalty is a huge loss and some thing that I think is ageist what Dans trying for. But with medals like the lone coquor It could add a fun aspect to the game.

It's definitely not about that ..how do ye know what Dan (ctrl+shift) is trying for? If ye have missed it, I tell ya customer needs are main focus for every business. How about the players that are fed up with legion ..brotherhood etc things? Some ships in galaxy can take you and me out without any legion bonus crap ..although I still prefer it for my ship! Diversity is the key so plus on this!

Honestly, I just can't see exactly where I personally would use this over any other race other than a scan run. No other professions require loyalty to work. Xecti may not give you bonuses when attacking, but gives a much larger bonus when defending (in addition to a planetary bonus). Konqul provides a larger raw attack bonus as a racial (though not larger than the Mercenary's +24% total) while Aerlen provides a larger raw defense bonus than Mercenary's total bonus. Meanwhile, an Aerlen or a Konqul can also be a Fixer or Excavator, providing 30% more hull (which is important as it cannot be debuffed) or 10% more artifact (which speaks for itself).
While it would provide a bit extra on a scan run, it seems like many are opposed to more scan due to it making cloaking a planet harder.

There's so much more than can be said about this.
1. There could be a medal directed toward lack of loyalty around pvp, such as disabling 500 enemy ships while not loyal to a legion (similar to Lone Conqueror) obviously, you wouldn't need stryll to do so, but you could definitely see benefit and choosing to be a mercenary achieving this. That medal suggestion in particular would make lone conqueror that much more enjoyable.
2. This game lacks any sense of 'hired guns', hence why the name of the profession is mercenary. Sometimes a ship may be bored of constantly being at peace within a respected legion, and would like to add some more excitement by floating around and joining in on wars. This would make player interactions between legions have more variety than simply trade.
3. Stryll in general are just overall badass.

No because hes refering to the mercenary proffesions boosts. you cant stack the fixer with it. your either +4% scan and 30% hull or 4% scan and +12% attack and defence while not loyal

Rigors comment is relevant because konqul and arlen can have their attack/defense bonus', AND be a fixer. As it is proposed stryll can have one or the other but not both simultaneously.
I see this race as under powered. As mentioned that little scan boost is only really relevant on a scan run. The profession is also under powered. Even if you didn't have to be unloyal. Without restrictions maybe should be 12-14% attack and 18-21% def. with the restrictions should be even higher.

Maybe they could be like the counter of Xecti, recieving 40% to attack and defense but the major flaw is not having loyalty in order to achieve this. Edit: When attacking, not while under attack. All and all if Dan does something with the idea he'd likely do details we wouldn't quite expect. Edit: This bonus would be impossible to apply to basing, for obvious reasons, so overpowered basing isn't an issue.

Maybe since stryll are great at tracking down targets it could decrease commons spawn rates or alow you to focus on your targe making a certian faction more common spawning eg focus on lazuri and all lazuri spawn rates are increased by 30%. I think this would be more worthwhile than 4% boost to scanning

I think this would be more worthwhile than 4% boost to scanning +0.5, NPC benefit is the icing on the cake I couldn't think of myself. They obviously needed some other benefit other than scan. I liked decreasing common spawn rates moreso than targetting specific factions. That's just silly. Everyone would aim for Dark Smugglers or Stryll for caches and rank points.

I like this idea, but like what other have said you need to have it so it is worth it for a someone to not be loyal in a legion. So maybe something like 30% attack and defense and 10% hull or something?
Edit: If you use my idea, I just saw how it could be abused, so maybe change it to not in a legion?

Edit: If you use my idea, I just saw how it could be abused, so maybe change it to not in a legion? I think that's a bit too much. I personally feel like +20% attack/defense would be fair; 15% I feel isn't enough (Aerlens gain +30% defense regardless of loyalty), and you're sacrificing loyalty. Thus it would be similar to having a Konqul with 2/3rds of the Aerlen racial bonus, but in return you wouldn't have loyalty (no base shipments, base killing, CTL, etc). Maybe even 25%, considering the trade-offs.

This means that you'd miss one out of 7 shipments each week to avoid becoming completely loyal to your legion. Some legions don't have equal shipments every day of the week, which means in these legions you wouldn't miss /any/ shipments.
