Ok playa’s heres an initial base defense protocol. It may change overtime and others will have differing ideas, however it gives us a starting point.
First rule: BREATHE. You should have a strong rock for them to pound against, take your time buffing her up.
So, let them go ahead and get a couple thousand hits on the shields as they get a taste, then hit the:
Grid Surge (3 artifact points) (+10% to shields for each physicist ) –
note: some legions want to play sleeping dog until the hull is almost gone. Nice for them, but then they are shortchanging their shields value too. Keep an eye on things, when the shields get to about ½ way down, go ahead and hit:
Battlestations (4 artifact points) (+2% to base attacks per loyal legionmate). Sit back and patiently wait. When the shields are to about 10k or so, hit:
Dimensional Decay (3 artifact points) (5% defense bonus per Aerlen (First make sure we still have at least 1 Aerlen in the legion!!! Else it will be a waste.) Then when shields are nearly gone, go ahead and hit:
Axillary Fortification (3 artifact points) (+10% per Lazuli). Now our already significantly high hull will be even thicker.
During the attack they will have to wade through their repair nanos and their shield restorers like M&Ms at a frat party (really fast). This will be costly for them and by that point we will have slowly used up to 13 ability points.
Now, some may decide to hit all of the buffs sooner rather than later, it's a judgement call. Just... dont go wasting points on say Grid Surge if your shields are already down.
DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT panic and DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT waste our paid heal until it’s all that is left. It has a 4 hour timer on it.
Now, when we are down to around 10% hull remaining or so, hit : Emergency Repairs (4 artifact points) (10% of current max hull repaired for each Fixer in the legion). It is important to not use this too soon so as not to waste a single point.
Rinse and repeat. Ability points are precious, dont waste too many on things like mines and such unless there is a sound reason to it.

If you do need to use the paid repair, MAKE SURE YOU USE IT IN THE FIRST 4 HOURS OF THE BATTLE. That way, you have an opportunity to hear them say as time is winding down, "Yay!! We are gonna do it! Oh, wait... Crap! Son of a...." when you full repair from 1000 hull points.

you really need to use the repair button first. like darth stated it comes with a 4 hour timer. you get around 2500 to 3500 hit that button and give it a full repair, then use your ability points over the next 4 hours, they will slow down as most will run out of energy, now your effects will run out in 4 hours, about the same time your repair button is recharged. this is when some have built up some energy and a few new heavy hitters have come online. this is round 2, put your effects back on, they will last till their timer runs out. keep the repair button on stand by, use the ability points to repair one or 2 times and on the third time hit the repair button for a full repair job. by this time everyone is out of energy, all they can do is watch the sheilds grow.

Now … don't leave it at that!
What legion is attacking your home? Check your battle tabs. Are any of them on member scans or ship logs? Are they buffed? Containment missile them! Disable them. Provoke them into attacking you and let them halc themselves on your traps. Distract them and make it harder for them to focus on our base. Maybe alert some of their planets and take some pot shots.
After about 15-20? minutes into the fight (or maybe around 50% shields or so) officers might choose to use (only a couple! – ability points are precious) of the 1 point mines. This will give us some names to work with. Possibly it might even reveal their heaviest hitters that would be PRIME targets for containment missile if they can be found on battle tabs or planet alerts, or hell, maybe even already on someone’s ship’s log. Just realize that you might well be needing those ability points later...
I say about 15-20 minutes into the fight because by then many of those not hitting so strong may have tended to reduce their attacks by then. Use your judgement IF you feel the benefits might out weigh the risk. Though you can't directly defend your base during an attack, you may however be able to crush their will to maintain the assault. If your people are online, you can work to better the chances for your base continuing to stand. But remember, ability points are precious! Don’t unduly waste them (unless they are just about to be replaced…)
Speaking of: If you are about to receive more ability points, why not use some of them? If you’re full or close to full, go ahead and hit some of the base defenses, make sure that Cyborg Data Channel will be active when the next base shipment will occur. It is better to activate this before a refill rather than after... you can't portend when your base is next up to bat.

though feel free to attack people from the attacking legion if they appear on your battle tab... repairs are precious, and the distraction from triggering their traps might work...

Yep.. Just ask the Desperados... That's part of how they ended up failing at Battlestation Dysonia AND losing Exotica at the same time...

Lone.Lycan wrote: ah, planets.... that's a dirty distraction Maybe... but losing half your bases production because it gets disabled is incentive enough for me to poke someone's planet. As long as its a so-so that i don't really want anyway. Nice planets I'd keep to myself until I'm ready to actually invade it.

Lone.Lycan wrote: which would be just a few hrs later when they've gotten all their mates to guard the cruddy planet actually here is how we have it. when our base is locked we hit the hull and battle stations buff ( just to slow them a bit) we decide if we can hold them off or not, if we think its a good bet we will camp it out and look for ther planets/ players on bt we have little shielding as its a waste compared to the hull which we can repair ANd we get a huge bonus for once all the buffs are in place we will always have someone on to repair ( if i get a text saying we are locked im on in minutes and will stay on till the lock is off or i hand it over to the night guards) we have all our ability points most days so we can repair many many times in those 8h locks
