It has been said before, I agreed with it and I am posting it again because I think it's a good idea. Leaders and to a lesser extent officers need the ability to enforce rules, right now the ONLY way to enforce a rule or punish someone that breaks a rule is to kick them from the legion. For some legions at the top of the boards this is fine as they have people lined up to join, but for the other 99% out there losing members actually really hurts. Here are some possible examples I thought of:

By leader: "Weapons Freeze" The player is unable to attack enemy bases or legion alerted npcs for one day (They could attack and alert any npc they have in their battle tab as normal).
By leader: "Invasion Freeze" The player is unable to invade any legion alerted planet for one day (They could invade any of their own planets as normal).
By leader: "Diplomatic Freeze" The player (officer) is unable to make use of the Diplomacy Tab & Officer chat for one day.
By leader or officer: "Production Freeze" The player can not collect base production points, the base would treat them as unloyal for one day, giving the rest of the legion their share.

The idea isn't to hurt them or take anything away from them, but to stop them from gaining something new from the legion. By cutting off silver badges for a day, npc gear for a day, or base production points for a day in no way are you taking something they already have away. The point is to for a very limited time, stop them from getting one or more benefits from the legion until they understand how to follow a given rule. These are just suggestions I don't care what it is as long as there is something added officers and leaders can do to enforce rules aside from kicking members.

I like this idea a lot. Leaders don't want to kick their members for minor rule infractions but sometimes they need the option to go further than merely posting a comm message to get the message through loud and clear.

How about a base production freeze? Obviously this could run the risk of the leader abusing their power but not receiving your daily base production would certainly hurt bad.

This is a great idea. Actually every post giving more powers to leaders to enforce rules is a great idea.

There should also be an option for the amount of days the effect has. This way more serious offences could be dealt with with a longer effect without having to be on at the right time to do the effect again.

Great idea,i hate having to see a member go because we either have to let them continue their rampage or we kick them

+1
also , another punishment could be withholding legion support for their planets for a day, negating the cloak and defense bonus for being in the legion

also, if you are going to have punishments, you need rewards, too.....
perhaps a bump in base production for a day ? or a bump in attack, defense, or cloak ? or increase the effectiveness or raids and hacks ? or increasing damage versus enemy bases ?

I had thought about a possible enforcement by removal of legion bonus to planets. I decided against it though because the idea is to punish them for a day, if you lose your legion bonus and someone jumps on your planet cuz your invasion defense drops from 4k to 2k and takes it... that is a loss that will last you a long time. I like the idea of not taking away from a player instead taking a benefit from the legion away, one that wont hurt them in the long run. As far as rewards go, that might be worth starting your own suggestion thread for, personally I think the over all benefits of being in a legion are good enough. I'm just tried of telling new members "Follow our rules or get kicked" and then kicking people for breaking the rules, Dan if you are out there we could build stronger player based communities if we could enforce legion rules better and not lose members over stupid little things.

ok, i think we need an addition to the legion tab where leaders could post the rules of engagement for their legion, that way it is there for all to see, and no one can say they didn't know the rules

on this screen would be the reprimand button for punishing members and the award button for awarding them bonuses

+1 to the punishment button but.....
-1 to the reward button everyone else is talking about...knowing some of the higher legions as I do some would abuse this power and just give the bonus to the entire team so everyone was getting a reward just for being there.

i agree minus 1 to reward button after all its called a legion bonus the punishment is to take away a bonus which is an award in itself

I know I have posted this before AND I know that others have posted this SAME topic before, BUT! It deserves to be posted AGAIN! Again today I had a legion member do something that did not warrant the member being kicked from the legion, but it is hard to fix these things and have members listen if you have players that go around and just break Legion rules and rulings. I will suggest some current possible REASONABLE punishments.

1. The player cannot receive Legion Base Shipments for a week.
2. The player cannot receive badges from an enemy base disable. (Still allow them to hit it though.)
3. The player cannot colonize planets that are shared by the legion for a week.(Still allow them to see them and hit them)
4. The Player cannot alert planets or enemy ships for a week.
5. The Player can be barred, for a week, from receiving legion bonuses to planets.
6. Ban the player from Legion Chat for a hour.(Especially if you think they just need to cool off)
7. Ban them from receiving rewards on Elites or Bosses that are alerted that are, NOT THERE OWN( meaning if THEY alert an a elite, since it was there alert, they can hit the elite and still get a reward).
8. I could not think of anything for 8 so you all post your ideas here.

We really need another way to deal with members besides kicking them and sometimes simple talking to them can get no where or they don't even respond to you.

Edit: and I don't think there should be a little gray message telling everyone that the player has been punished or even demoted(if Officer).

This is from my own thread a LONG time ago and thought I would re-post it here to aid the cause of Power to the Leaders! Current Legions are like the United States under the Articles of Confederation.

Edit: These would give Leaders a wide range of options to deal with non behaving members. It also lets Leaders decide what crime equals what punishment.

Getting some good feed back, the reward idea is something else entirely and has nothing to do with enforcing rules.
Would love to gather some more attention on the matter maybe get Dan's attention.

The fact remains that we want to enforce legion rules without having to kick out every member we have who breaks one from time to time.

so... bump.

love the idea, but I think this should be added to, maybe you could remove legion bonus and even put an embargo on them, no trading with other legion members? just my thoughts, In my legion there isn't much need for this...

Just want to keep at it, of all the things I have suggested and of the things I have seen other people suggest... this would still be one of my top picks to change in the game.
The actual affects are just some thoughts, I would be happy with just about anything Dan could come up with but "Kick" as the only form of rule enforcement in the game is far to harsh.
Please add feedback offer up +1's if you agree with me and help get Dan's attention.

so bump
