while having access to multiple chat channels is a good idea,...
i think both of you missed the point of the original poster's suggestion....
during the scanning phase of base combat things can get quite confusing with people posting what they found on scan and waiting for a leader or officer to tell someone to lock a specific base... the color-coded chat text would help people listen only to the person in charge in those instances
