Immortals
this race unlike any other race has no physical body. it is at most accurately described as an intangible living consciousness that has no real definite shape/form (or better known to humans as a ghost). they have phased bodies that ignore the fundamentals of physics. Science has yet been able to "detect/sense" these so called ghosts, but many in the olden days refer to them as the grim reaper, poltergeists, evil spirits, and even Deities. Some believe they exist, whilst others take them as farces and "overactive imaginations".

Little is known to why they have started to take hostile actions against us, but it is said that these events started happening after the break-through invention of the "Proxi-Universe reactors". as time passed by more and more of these hostile and deadly encounters became much more frequent. At first they would merely destroy the ships' reactors and then leave without a trace, but as of current reports crew members are being abducted by the immortals and vast expanses of war torn space have been cleared of every biological material. Scientists fear the very fact that every single biological remnant was removed while the battle field remain littered with debris thinking "what if... they are what our ancestors said they were... What if... they had the abilities that defied logic and reasoning..."

will appreciate feedback :)

i have thought up NPC's and missions for the "Immortals" but i would rather know if it is good or bad at this point or reasonable enough for a SCI-FI game :)

Surely if they were ghosts, or trenscendant beings or such they wouldn't need ships? dunno if it would work as a playable race, but might make some cool missions.

They "reanimate" old ships for faster travel

Ah, like it! Ghost in the machine stylee. Ever read P Hamiltons " the reality dysfunction" ? dead souls return and posses other being like demons, and warp their technology to boot.

Non-physical alien races are common in sci-fi, even if they are scientifically ridiculous. A non-physical race could probably "control" physical objects. Maybe make them playabe with a nifty ability?

sweet! LOL! ghost ships it is!! next will be zombies and chainsaws! LOL!

here are some of the characteristics i thought up that might apply to the Immortals

+2% hull regen every 10 mins
upkeep - 75% "they can re-animate and maintain structural integrity by their powers.. oooooo spooky.."
cloaking + 15% "ghosts... HELLO??? anyone there?"
defense + 25% "i wonder why no one has ever killed a ghost before..." xD

as for possible skills
"mass restoration" fully restores all modules to perfect condition and grants a bonus of +20% attack and def for 1 hour.

"Void walk" The Immortals open up a pathway to "the afterlife" dimension making you invulnerable to be targeted by any means but allows you to attack others. (they can damage you back if you attack them) lasts 1 hour.

"Possession" The Immortals influence both animate and inanimate objects alike on the target which causes wide spread chaos and confusion.
if used on NPC attack and def - 30% lasts 2 hours ::::
if used on other players greatly damages 2 to 5 modules, has a 35% chance of disabling 3-8 modules at random (disabled meaning Un-equipping them) and makes them 50% more vulnerable to hacks/raids also reduces attack and def by 20% lasts 20 mins

"True Sight" The Immortals launch a full scale invasive maneuver on the target's mind and gain very valuable intelligence. Reveals at least 10 at most 20 of the most recent scans performed by the target. there is then a temporary buff of +100% planetary invasion which lasts 10 mins.. once the 10 mins are up OR an invasion is attempted (success or failure) all the revealed planets are once again hidden not unless already have been scanned/invaded by the skill user.

"Mass Resurrection" The Immortals temporarily infuse bits of their consciousness into inanimate or dead objects on either a friendly planet/your own planet or an enemies planet.
if used on friendly planets grants 100% immunity to population destruction unless the attacker(s) deal a total of 3 times these planets maximum population(if attackers manage to pull that off then the planet is once again vulnerable to invasion HOWEVER the buffs will remain).cures planet of all current de-buffs then grants immunity to structural removal and debuffing(buffs like traps cloning pods etc will work) . grants a temporary bonus of +15% attack/def/cloak (lasts 12 hours?)

if used on an enemies planet. (maximum population of the planet X 0.5 + skill users level) X 5=TEMPORARY bonus in invading the planet while also lowering planets total attack/def/cloak by 35% . lasts 1 hour. IF planet is successfully invaded within the 1 hour all de-buffs will cease and generous buff of +50% total attack/def/cloak and X2 maximum population will be granted for 24 hours.

Mission Chain i thought about that would fit this would ultimately allow the creation of a better reactor compared to the Proxi-Universe Reactor..

The Purpose Reactor. After countless public hearings and discussions and countless soiled clothing. The Galactic council and the Enigmatic Immortals finally reach a structured conclusion that will cease further disturbances caused by the unique reactions of Proxy reactors. The immortals agree to helping any and all who provide the required space and materials for the construction of this "Spirit Powered" Reactor called "WILL" by the Immortals. The reactor utilizes the very consciousness available in all living things harvesting its will-power and instilling purpose into them that results in a greater yield of will-power while ever still instilling a sense of ever growing purpose. The limitations to the Reactor is the very life span of its hosts which remain in the continuing cycle of life and death, however, because of its abilities to exponentially increase the energy yield of each of its hosts which results in an even greater supply of energy compared that to multi-versal disruptions it is here-by concluded as of current times the most efficient and environmentally/dimensionally friendly source of power.

[un-scientific.. i know.. but hey.. we all wonder what would that greatest form of energy be, why not something that comes from nothing? literally]

LOL.. modify them to be less overpowering .. i thought it through... adding the necessary energy costs / materials the devs see fit and OF COURSE the DREADED COOLDOWNS! i think they can be totally balanced that way.. "I THINK"
