I would like to see a base merge feature that would allow smaller legions to merge their bases when their legions merge. The resulting base would reflect the resources invested by both legions. Currently, the relatively large amounts of resources invested in bases discourages legion mergers.

-1 In a nice, peaceful, and very trusting world this would be great but we don't live in a world like that lol. What happens if one of your leaders wants to join another legion, does he take your base with him? There would be no way to stop him and he already wants to leave so I don't think he would care either way if people got upset at him. What if some people don't want to merge, do they get kicked out and lose everything they have donated so far? How many credits would it be worth to a lower ranking legion leader if he "merged" his legions base to another for all that energy? There are so many ways this could go wrong and in the end everyone who is wronged is going to #$&*@ to Dan.

even if it's set up so each person individually takes his donated resources to another base, what happens when that individual had already donated 25% of that base's upgrades? does that base get DEMOTED a level? no, it's up to a player whether he or she wants to put their resources into legion A, or wait until they perhaps join legion B

The potential to lose all the resources invested in a base exists already, as anyone can be kicked from a legion at any time. The type of unethical behavior your speaking of would likely have consequences anyway. Who would want someone like that in their legion. Your objecton is analogous to saying we should not allow trade because someone might get ripped off.The current situation heavily favors well established chain legions and discourages mergers among smaller legions.

I think you are looking at ONLY the last example of his argument to why it COULD go wrong. I think the, "What if one Leader wants to merge and does it anyways even though a large portion of the legion disagrees?" Or "What if a Leader Betrays the legion for large sums of Credits?" is a completely valid argument. Before I left my old legion I put a trusted Officer to Leader position to run things while the "Other" Coalition Leaders decided who to replace me with when they learned I left.....Long to story shot, this new "trusted" Leader turned out to be a little kid who could not handle power and kicked a few members as well as stole 20bil credits before leaving the legion.

Here's a tweak to the idea. Prior to base merge, players attach themselves to the base. They travel with the base to the new legion. Resources would be based on the percentage joining the new legion. If 15 0f 20 join 75% of the base resources merge.

Process uses initial legion total. Attached Leaders and officers maintain rank when transfered. That would prevent most abuses involving players kicked after transfer. Unattached percentage of resources is lost.
