 Containment Cages not working on NPC effects

I wasted 3 containment cages before I realized that they don't work on NPC effects. Their description says that they remove all harmful effects except traps. When I get hit by a NPC who releases a dark cloud and lowers my attack or defense or whatever, that isn't a trap.

Ah. I would support that cages should work on non-trap debuffs on you from NPC encounters..

it worked when i tried it. what NPC was it. the effect i used it on was -25% attack.
