you want high hull as well, so you don't have to repair as much, and might want to try and bring your defense up a bit more so you don't take as much damage when you attack them. It's just luck of the draw for me when I NPC fully buffed but my attack and defense are relatively the same.

Max attack then hull then def an as much energy as possible. As you use up your energy uninstall reactors and install more def/hull.

Use as many buffs as possible. If possible have under 20 scan to avoid assassins and tech collectors.

Do not forget to reset your config when you are about to lvl up.

Rogue Tech Collectors, Stryll Assassins and a few elites. The xp return on the first 2 are abysmal though so avoid at all costs. If you have a good legion you should get all the elites you miss out on alerted for you anyway. If your legion is not very good at npcing it might be time to move on.

Torment is always looking for npc hunters and we have lots of elites shared everyday. We are upto 26 members with an average rank of 186, ranks all the way upto 446. We have some very experienced hunters to guide anyone new to npc hunting.

Sorry bout the plug.

I have done some analysis, and I have never seen scan or cloak affect combat in a significant enough way to care about it. Therefore, run without scan to avoid the crappy xp NPCs.

for a rough idea, browse the Combat section of the wiki.... specifically the NPC Rares and NPC Extremely Rares... if you're in the alert range of a specific npc and it has any cloak, that's probably going to be one you won't see on your own BT (though you can still see the alerted ones)

mission npcs that are part of a "hunt these ships and bring back this item" type of mission that have cloak (example: Caelon) will also not show up
mission npcs that spawn at the end of a mission completion will show up normally regardless of how much cloak it has (example: Zolazin shroud base)

At 202 your just starting to get into the range of the really good elites but if you can get your scan below 20 then I wouldnt worry too much cos others will alert them. If you cant get your scan below 50 then I would set it at just over 600, thats enough scan to get all the elites.

Note if you complete 45 missions, you will NOT be able to go under 20 scan anymore. If you go over I think 82 missions, you cannot go under 50 scan anymore. The scan boost rewards are locked into your ship.

change to sillixx... overload your extra deckspace... and change back to your other race...

...instant disabiling of all those extra-special modules that can't be uninstalled
(at least in theory.. i haven't done it yet to see if the special scan modules are disabled)

I'm not willing to pay GP to execute that trick all the time. Instead, I simply won't do 45 missions. After mapping out all of them, most of them are marginal module rewards or crew that I can get from AP. NPC slots and a couple other things are on my to-do list, but it's not worth the horrible XP to see the assassin (although I don't think it would affect me as much with all the mission npcs I still have active). It was carefully planned to maximize long term planet drop farming, which is my sole purpose in GL these days (note, by rank 1700 I had pretty much done everything else).
