Are the heavy quasi chaotic blasters really worth it? Consider that their upkeep is about 4.1 billion for all 8 per day.

if you have enough mining per hour why not.

How much is recommended. I cap out at 42500 and produce 5674 per hour.

I put out 6500ish MP/hr, which means before upkeep and repairs I make around 6.5-7 billion credits/day, which means I won't raise my upkeep about 4.5 B/day(right now I'm at 3.7B/day) point is, keeping a nice cushion of extra credits is a good thing, for me, at LEAST an extra 2B/day is golden

so in regard to this top tier tech....I'd have to say put it off for now, get the lights, or heavy thetacrons, they're MUCH cheaper upkeep-wise, and only slightly worse

At your current mineral production, there will be no way you can pay for 8 quasi's. I've got about 3k per hour MORE than you and it'll be a stretch for me. Right now, you've still got Null Rays installed. Bump up to Heavy Thetas. Almost as much punch as quasi's for a lot less credits/minerals. Much more affordable option given your production rate. Boost your attack further by going "all in" on Tactical Officers.

And for Pete's sake, Smithe... Ask for some mining planets....

I have about 10k MpH and I have been slowly upgrading to the Quasi-Chaotics over time.

My strategy has been to upgrade one every time my credit balance hits 100 Billion.
I figure if I have enough surplus to get back to that total I can afford another one.

With the Builder bonus I seem to have stalled out at 6/8 Quasis but that may be because I keep spending money on scan blitzes, invasions and planet upgrades.

This is exactly what I am doing now, decided to skip Thetacrons altogether and slowly starting to creep Quasi's in as I get deck space and hit 150B Creds

i don't see heavy quasi being worth the upkeep....

8x heavy quasi = 8.20 B unmodified upkeep = +3416 atk
8x heavy theta = 2.08 B unmodified upkeep = +2864 atk
difference = 6.12 B unmodified upkeep = +552 atk = 552 tactical officers = 276 rank points = 92 rescued prisoners

nuff sed!!

ur calculation is incomplete, quasi also takes more deck. 32 deck isn't a lot and u will probably get botted beyond ur need eventually. But for some, it might make a difference XD

Apples and Oranges....

While I can't argue that Quasi's aren't way overpriced for the increased attack you get, you can't compared it to tactical officers. By the time you've researched Quasi's AND be able to afford them, a majority of your rank points should be going into tactical officers anyway (assuming you're not doing engineers in order to fast rank).

Personally, I'm fine with 3.06B (Builder) increased upkeep for +552 attack AND using 276 rank points for another +552. Throw in some buffs... Just the standard set of buffs (Crystal, CrimAmp, Obelisk) puts the increase just from the quasi's at +733 over a set of Thetas, add in target specific buffs and mod bonuses... Its actually fairly reasonable for BUILDERS. Other professions, not so much. And 6000 m/h isn't gonna cut it either.

until i have more credits than i can otherwise spend..... i won't be upgrading to heavy quasi

You could just kill a load of NPCs over the next 2 weeks and get the various bane emitters and dark badges to get composite rays.

4 top of the line bane emitters and 4 composite rays would offer the difference between heavy thetas and heavy QCB without the high upkeep. It'll take up more space though.

It's the same with adding Xecti Disriptors and Lazuli cores. More space, lower upkeep,

I think this is what it boils down to. Plus by the time you get to this point, you probably want all the bonuses you can have.

Myself, I did it slowly over time, installing 1 at a time when I'd saved enough KU and minerals. I went from Null -> HQ so +287 (46 decks) to +430 (55 decks) or +143 (9 decks).

To me, this trade was way worth the trade of Tactical Officers vs decks. By skipping Thetacron Cannon completely, I saved a TON of credits.

Endgame, you know you are going to want to install every attack and defense module. Plan for it (even if you have to skip a couple in the middle) and I think the credits saved are worth the temporary weakening of skipping module levels.

one-time fees don't bother me.... much... if an item is installed for more than 20 days, the upkeep is greater than the credit cost of the initial purchase
