Hypothetical situation here. Ok, well not so hypothetical...

Suppose you are low 500's. You get badged by someone in the low to mid 800's. Coming back later, you find that person with a few common buffs. You know the ones... Pyramid, Grid, Crystal, a scan and hack buff. You don't see any XP or shockpulse buffs. So taking the opportunity to get a badge back from said person, you CM the buffs and attack (setting off an omicron and KV trap). By setting off the traps, you make it obvious its not a d*** move nerf-and-run. You're actually going for the disable. The 800 happens to still be online and CMs back to make the fact known to you. Then posts on your comm that the use of a CM is considered an act of war.

Did I miss something? A low 500 is supposed to go toe-to-toe with someone nearly twice their rank WITHOUT using any artifacts? Why do we have offensive artifacts then?

I don't like getting CM'd. But as long as you're not an asshat and don't stop there and actually go for a kill I guess is all fair. I had my share of getting CM'd then de-buffed to smithereens then that's that. Not even trying. Also, try not to CM shockpulse. People hate that the most.

I got badged last night after blue-badging someone else, and since I didn't have the cloak to hack nor the energy to disable, I CM'd him instead. Ten minutes after he disabled me. The reason I waited ten minutes was because he had an EXP buff active. After I CM'd him, I left a message explaining that I was being polite in waiting for his EXP buff to wear off, but that I couldn't guarantee the same if he chose to turn it into a realiating match. He later replied that he considered it fine.

I really dont like it when people CM me, no matter what. I return the favor by disabling their ship even without CM's but thats just me.


I actually respect people who disables (my) ship(s) without using any artifacts.

I don't need to get back at then knowing they have what it takes to disable. and they have earned their badges rightfully



Now if your asking if its war.. I don't think so just means you can do a back and forth with this guy untill someone gives up.

Why should there be any artifact if not for use? If I go on an offensive spree, I use the usual suspects: CO, DP, ACF, CA, CB, etc., but no debuff on enemy ships. If I'm going for a retaliation, I would use any means necessary--especially if the target is 100-150 ranks above me as usually is the case. If I can't take them out even after those debuffs, I comm them and congratulate them on their build.

Now when there's a rule, there's always an exception to the rules. I will go with no holds barred against any ship that has bullied me in the past. I took a note of them all, every one of them, every legion. Now I get to be in their league, can go toe-to-toe with them, I spare no expense. But then, whenever I go for a personal vendetta like this, I leave my legion out of it. It's a personal thing and I would never drag my legion into a personal beef.

But nob it should be not a war, someone who think its a war is stupid and foolish. a simple disable does, should not start a war.

In my opinion, if you badge someone weaker, expect them to badge you back by any means necessary. You didn't pick on someone your own size, so expect them to level the playing field a bit.

You were kind to check if they had exp/npc buffs in the first place really.

I'm rank 716 and the highest player on my BT is rank 461. Pray tell, what am I supposed to do ? In case I want to PvP that is.

I have no issue at all with getting badged by someone that much higher than me. I realize there's a short supply of targets at that rank. But after REPEATED badgings (that have all been let slide) I'M accused of making an act of war when I DO go back after him? It's like me saying that to a rank 300 that I hit first. Sounds pretty candy-ass if you ask me.

PS: Swag, between you and me, he sports a randomly colored A on his ship....

Oh well. There are players and players. You can't point out at the randomly coloured A for a player that has the said A on his ship. What can I say... I'm OK with being CM'ed but I don't like it. Especially when I have a shockpulse on. I never threatened with wars based on that tho. Although I did made the people that CM'ed me without doing anything after that,or even worse alerted me over BT hits, my special friends for as long as I could see them. To each, his own, I guess.

I'm puttin' all my energy into a mission, or npc, and don't have any to spare for some random badge hunter. A CM is my way of remindin' 'em that nothin's free.

I just disabled this ship 200 ranks higher with the below buffs, without using a CM. I don't mind anyone using artifacts on me, if its for the purpose of disabling me or trying to disable me. If i get CM'd with nothing backing it, that is just a cheap shot, and now your on my logs, so maybe ill revisit you.

I don't mind C missiles being used on me I tend to have a lot of everything. If I have someone that wants to C missile me and not fight me I will just rebuff and see how many C missiles they want to throw and it gets funny after about 10 times most will message something like you just don't learn or I can keep this up all day , Its just a joke to me.

As for other artifacts like debuffs , I just think of them as saying "I'm weaker then you so, I'm using these" , But that thinking comes from me being a Konqul. I like to think they would find it dishonorable to have to weaken an opponent and take pride that someone can't take them head on.

I don't mind artifacts so much. If someone uses them on me it just shows it'd be easy to badge back.

Cm dont belong in the bt. Let there arts fall off your find a new target. At the very least on 3 hour buffs with ten min left use a spy probe rec to see if there a stock pile or ap.mp and rp then if so there off line so go for it. I dont cm ppl unless im at war I expect the same. If you do it expect to be zeroed a badge is a badge no big deal just dont touch there arts. Its a di*k move.

First thing comes to mind is if they have common buffs active most likely they are on, and there is no way with the rank difference you will get the kill anyway.

Personally.. you attack me I disable you in return. I enjoy killing a guy 300 ranks above me with no CM, and leaving it in his mind that yes you kill me, but every time you do you get killed back.. without artifact usage. But.. point remains everyone plays the game differently. If his legion is stupid enough to declare war over a CM then they deserve the pummeling they will get in return. Their right tho.. to be this stupid, and simply means congrats!! you hit him where it hurts.. best to continue that lol.

I am pretty sure I did the same thing to this exact player this morning. He had badged me half a dozen times over the last week and when he did it this morning I hit back. I hit him with a CM, and then broke through several sets of traps to get the kill. He immediately goes emo on my comm threatening war etc.. I told him tough, if he wants to keep badging me constantly then he can deal with me killing him and since he is three hundred levels up on me, that means a CM if he has buffs up.

As far as I know, only Dan can make the rules.
