How about, every day, there is a set of leaderboards which are reset at midnight? These are separate from the standard leaderboards, and are untargetable. The people at the top every day get prizes, base on their position. The leaderboards would be:
PvP kills, NPC Kills, RP hacked, and MP+AP raided.
As they're reset every day, you'll always have a chance to place on them. The rewards could be something like:
Top 500 - 5X Random related artifact (eg foci for pvp/npc/raids, flares for hacks) Top 100 - 5 TMs Top 50 - single use, unremovable buff that lasts 24 hours. Top 10 - special module. Top 3 - Credits, in the order of Billions, increasing from 3rd to 1st.
You get the reward from every category you fit into, so the top 3 will get the 500,100,50,10 and top 3 reward.
If the top 10 already have ALL the modules, then they get Credits/CTP instead, and the module is passed down to the next person.
Buffs: PvP: Victor's Aura - Defence is increased by 10% NPC: Aura of Focus - NPC defence and exp gains increased by 10% Hack: Mainframe Overcharge - Hack chance increased by 10%, and hack gains increased by 10%. Raid: Short-life blasters - Raid chance increased by 10%, and raid gains increased by 10%.
Modules: Will be small but powerful, something like 10 space for 250 hull, or a set of new weapons which give +50 attack and defence for 12 space. Hack focussed will be similar for cloak/scan. Raid will be raid defences and crew barracks which add to your crew for raiding.
The brackets could be made smaller for rewards, but be split into level groups (eg top 100, 50, 25, 10 and 3, but for the 50-100 range, 100-150, 150-200, 200-300, that sort of thing)
While I think on, this could be extended to legions. Small base bonuses for having the biggest level increases in a day/week, total kills, that sort of thing. rewards could be base artifacts that double the effect of resource abilities, or give a passive attack/defence boost, or even a production point for the very best.

Please, not credits for top 3...
Other than that, +1
An alternative could be a small amount of GP (2 for 3rd, 5 for second, 10 for first) but if you get in twice in a row you only get half.
Also, if you really needed the modules wouldn't it suck to beat the others?

Thunder, read this: Quote: Also, you get the reward from every category you fit into. So the top 3 get 1 of each reward (i.e. 5 artis, 5 TMs, a buff, a module AND credits)

Ahh, I see. I read that which just confused me even more when you told me to read it again. It's not the clearest explanation of that I've seen, but I get it now.
I still say credits should not be the top reward though.

These would be several billion credits - 10 25 and 50B, or something like that. Isn't that worth getting. I'll edit the explanation.

I already have an idea on who will dominate this. Same powerful ships we know and admire today.

Remric wrote: I already have an idea on who will dominate this. Same powerful ships we know and admire today. I thought that while I typed it. But that's why I have the "drop down" modules from regular winners, and the proposition of separate level categories. It's unfair to compare a rank 50 to a rank 500 really. Also, people wouldn't end up with useless rewards, and they'd be more accessable as time goes on.

+1, but pvp and NPC can be slightly abused, just hoard tri matrixes and kill enough NPCs/enemy players to get on the leaderboards also there needs to be a way to where the same people don't keep getting the rewards.

-1, the same people will dominate this almost every day. Good luck displacing them unless they are on vacation

First off DarthRavage-As Spyders said it could be extended to legions. So the top 10 in each legion get a reward. See people need to start reading otherwise it creates confusion, and arguements. I have thought of something, and it is that those rewards could change to different ones say for example each month. Now the dysonians think they have under their belt but if it was 10 rewarders in each legion, well the dysonians would fight it out between them to get a top spot a challenge for them if u will, and not just them everyone. Destroyer43-Yeah people save up energy cubes and tri-matrixes,but who cares if people use them they're there to be used, i mean if u say that y don't u start saving up energy cubes and tri-matrixes. Spyders- +1 its a great idea. And now i know what the +1 is,its rep im guessing, forum rep. I got some or one can't remember how many, from the idea i proposed "Base addition". Anyway it would be great to see u back in Phoenix Rising,if your not coming back well then goodluck.

I like the idea. However Remric is right. You will have the same ones in the top 500 everyday. Put a rule/timer of 24-48 hours to be able to rank that high again. Just like u invade a planet and have to wait for a reset. Same here only reason to do that would be to give everyone else a chance at being in the top 500.

+1 to the idea.
But i think the top 3 reward and the top 10 reward should be switched around.
Also i think that to stop the same people being on the board is to have a time limit, so they can only appear on the board say once every 24hrs or once every 3 days, to give other people chance to be on the board.
or this whole system could be done for each rank section. I.e its done between ranks 1-100, 101 - 200, 201 - 300 etc, so you won't have rank 50's competing against rank 500's, but rather rank 50's against say rank 60's, and rank 516 against rank 580's etc.

The other way to do it would be "champions badges" - badges awarded depending on position. eg 1 for top 5000, 2 for 2500, 3 for 1000 and work up from there. badges buy modules, and single use buffs. If this happened, replace the top 10 rewards with scaling credit boosts.
Or as I said in the first post, have it level based.
PS remember, the top 3 don't just get credits. They get everything else before that too (module, buff, artifacts too).

Way, way too easy for the low ranker ships to get top as they arent plagued by needing null fuses
Dislike this idea

Why not catergorize them by level? What I mean is that there be different classes, in other words more competitions based on rank?
Rank 1 - 24 Rank 25 - 49 Rank 50 - 99 Rank 100 - 199 Rank 200 - 299 Rank 300 - 399 Rank 400 - 499 Rank 500+
The lower levels would recieve lesser value items.
