With all the buldings and artifact, its tough to find a good balance between the production and defense/attack for the planets.

Not sure if anyone looked but i am trying to find the BEST possible production for space for planets a certain size.
This is what i currently have any suggestions would be highly appreciated:

Mega Collosal(Rift) x30 Mining based
Tri-Phase Cutter x2
Adaptive Spire x2
Warp Gate
Processing Core
Sulcation Portal
Star Lifter x4
Extracted Lithovoric Stem

Current production: 1386 units/hr

I am at a point where before i get any more planets looking for upgrade all of my planets to the max, especially those invulnerable where no defense/attack is needed. So post if you think i should do something different. (Mylarai Stripcore Mine is a no go for this planet)

Can i ask why the stripcore mine is a no go for the planet?

It also has a reasonably great artifact production. Stripcore is -2 artifact. Just guessing...

That's a good question.

I'd demolish at least one of the star lifters and fill the space with other resource producing artifcts. They don't have to boost mining. It would just increase the overall production. I'd fit in as many structures as possible with the highest resource/size production (irrespective of resource).

I have a 15x hyperterraformed planet producing 1.1k of resources with about half artifact.

For something like a Rift, I think it's wisest to just do nothing but artifact structures. If you maximize the planet for mining, you'll actually get much less total production. In some cases, like for a 17X Toxic or Plasma, where all the other resources are garbage, you just really want to maximize the one branch.

But for something like a 30X/30X/30X or so Rift where every resource is great, you want nothin' but artifacts, as they're much more space efficient. You can't get enough artifacts to max one branch, so it's better to have a spread. My Rift produces as such:
Resource Availability Production
Mining 25x Mega Rich 590.15 units/hr
Artifact 30x Mega Rich 861 units/hr
Research 28x Mega Rich 902 units/hr

It has a single +12 Arti structure and a +3 - everything else is artifacts. Since it's invincible and produces every resource well, there's no reason not to load it up with all your rare goodies - Drannik Databank, Crimson Base, Omnibase. Anything with great production that you don't want stolen.
This maximizes the *overall* production of the planet
