I've just been reading up on some science fiction ideas and i think I've come up with a decent combined theory lab discovery for a gas planet.

Stross Shell Conversion. By encapsulating a gas planet in a solid shell its outer surface becomes habitable after terraforming.

Requirements: 1 Terraforming Device, 1 Quasi Spacial Expander, 25 relay tower chassis, 25 refining lab chassis, 25 processing core chassis, 25 cloning pods.

Benefits: the resulting Stross Shell Conversion changes the gas planet to a metallic world and increases its size by 1, it gains mining and artifact production equal to that of its research stat.

not really feeling what it would do exactly, but on a personal opinion lvl that sounds dangerous, compressing a gas planet like that, then if it gets attacked and causes a spark, then KABLEWY! it goes boom

only if the gas planet has oxygen which most doesn't so no explosions.

First, CT recipes take 2 or 3 ingredients. 6 would be too much.

Second, you're suggesting mining and artifact stats get increased to whatever the research stat is? So if you "shell" a 15x, you suddenly have 15x artifact as well? For 50GP and a little NPC farming (and/or Kronynizing) you would end up with a Colossal 15x artifact planet. Way too overpowered. -1

As well as what the guy who replied said the shell placed around the gas giant doesnt compress it. It surrounds the planet at a distance where gravity would be Earth norm, or whatever alien gravity is their norm.

I can see how the mining would start, but any artis on the planet would be lost inside the shell. So artis wouldn't work. Mining for the gases would definately work, but I think it should depend on the size of the planet instead.

artifacts could be obtained from the shell itself, just as dyson spheres can have artifact production
