Does GalaxyLegion have a bigger multiplier per resource point for a buildable structure than a resource point from an artifact?

planet

  • Very Massive
  • Research Ultra Rich
  • Xecti Signal Repeater Bonus Research: 10%
No other effect is in place; planet size and research level remain unchanged

For example:
    Sha'din Grid Network Research: 2
Zolazin Analyzer Research: 1, Artifact: 1

vs
    Nanite Lab Research +3

It seems that replacing many smaller research units (installed at a much lower rank) with a few larger ones and artifacts to make up the total number of research points gives less total research output. The same seems to happen when I replace a structure with artifacts to make up the same number of research points.

The above planet it not the only example where this appears to be demonstrated. The WIKI mentions "Effective Multiplier" for the research levels here http://galaxylegion.com/wiki/index.php/Planets#Resource_Availability. However, there seems to be no info whether it makes a difference whether a resource point comes from an artifact or a structure I can build.

Any insight?

generally speaking, artifacts are more space efficient than researchable structures, particularly when it comes to resource production...
that's why artifacts will have a per-planet limit, and some artifacts are even limited in available quantity due to being available only from missions

in your example above...
Nanite Lab takes up 9 space on the planet for the 3 raw resource points it puts out... that's 3 space per point, or 0.333 points per space
Shadin Hypergrid Network takes up 1 space on the planet for the 2 raw resource points it puts out... that's 0.5 space per point, or 2 points per space

No, there is no difference in calculations for points from structures and points from artifacts. As you rank up and gain access to more and more artifacts (missions, NPC drops, CT Lab) and research better structures, you will find that replacing say... 3 +6 buildings with 2 +8 buildings and a couple artifacts will give you the same (if not more) production out of less space. This lets you add more defense/attack/cloak/population which makes it easier to KEEP a decent planet.

I'm not sure I understand your questions but I can give you numbers...

An ultra rich research planet will give you 5.5 RP/research unit.

In your above example, the both will produce the same amount (5.5 x 3) x 1.1 = 18.15.

The big difference is that your first example will only take 2 spaces (1 for the Sha'din Grid Network, 1 for the Zolazin Analyzer). Additionally, you will be making some artifacts. You will have 66 spaces left to fill.

In your second example, you will only be making your 18.15 rp per hour and takes 9 spaces. 9 spaces is a HUGE amount.

When in doubt, use artifact buildings...
