The expected return for hacking is slightly positive and at least 0 since many view the gained badge and RP is worth 5 energy and, assuming that crit success/fail are the same chance, the expectancies cancel each other out because you also have the chance to obtain a planet. However, a couple more friking dynite just doesn't cut it with a crew member. The expected return is therefore probably negative unless someone has a fetish for yellow badges, not to mention that the only useful reward is the badge as I only get about 50 points at my level and therefore raiding gives negligible point rewards. Since im desperate for protean armories as they save a lot of deck space at my measly level 38, I am driven to do it, but Im positive Ill quit as soon as i get them the saturation amount.
I won't argue that the "cash" reward for a raid (or hack for that matter) is pretty crappy and the only real value is the yellow badge. at such a low rank, I can see the issue with losing a crewman, but really, its not much to worry about. As you rank up and increase your artifact production, you'll get plenty of crew. As for having 3 crit fails in 120ish raids.... Well the RNG was just... unkind... Sacrifice a nice goat to The Goddess and your luck will change.
