This is what I have learned so far from studying many techniques in getting members, and running the legion.

1. A good name:
A. Many players might prefer a comedic sense, which tends to work only if the funny name is REALLY funny, and not to much sounding insulting, because most players won't join a place that will make them look like they hate someone, then they might get beat up.
B. To start off an try to train a bunch of newbies; Depending on the newbie you want, like ones that know they are new, will actually flood straight to legions with the words "Newbie" in them, and just a small description saying they help new players. While others, not as many but more into trying harder on their own, will join legions were you put a level cap above their level, and the name makes them want to click it, so they see it is "level 70 and up", these guys will click join hoping they get respect.
C. To get hard in gamers; A name like, "Elites of GL", could get a few, level 40 and up players, or just some Newbie's, planning on staying and playing hardcore if you prove the game is fun to them.

2. getting members good and active:
A. Once you get request in, it is good to accept most, unless they are obviously not going to stay active. But with New players, you must be On allot, getting request right away, and giving them allot of credits or something to make them feel like they have a advantage, so they will stay.
B. Keeping Newbies active; Once Newbies join and you reward them, talk allot on the comm, and quickly put in announcements something fun they can do in the game. Also, most ones that start liking it, will ask questions, the moe quickly and simply you answere a question for them, the more they might look up to you, and like the game.
C. Aquatinting players to the legion and game; this will get the players to feel like this legion will be funner, if you Make some sort of in legion Competitions, this will make the players want to play harder, and get stronger faster to reach a goal and reward, keeping them active, and making your legion stronger. Also try to tell them about many epic things they could get when they are bigger, or lucky things like exotics, Dysons, nice planets they can find.
D. Sharing stuff, and making the legion provide allot; Having allot of active players, gets the players and new members a good planetary bonus, make sure they know this. Also sharing planets that would be great for thier levels, and giving arti's you might not use wil also make them think this legion is the greatest for them!

3.Growing the base and Legion members;
A. It is good to promote your members to help the base; Because even if your big, and can grow it yourself, them helping with it's leveling up will make them think it is also theirs, and promote more legion chat on it, and less member leaving for other legions, as they don't want to abandon their work. But also remember to participate in the base's growth, to nudge it to the next level, that way members don't get bored and tired of lower production from it.
B. Once legion embers are active, and level at good speeds; Try to Promote them helping other smaller members, this gives them a feel of being higher up in the legion, and helps the smaller ones get bigger too, knowing that their is more than one person that can help them.
C. Keep the Competitions active; Competitions that was stated earlier, is a good thing to have throughout the legions growth, this will keep members active and on allot, trying to be better in the legion. A weekly one for Most levels gained, kills made, hacks, and anything else they have done through the week is good too. but remember to try and give smaller guys in the legion a way to beet the others, or make divisions for the competitions, so all members have a part in it.
D. Keep activity in growing the base; Keeping constant messages in about the base is occasionally good to get some members talkative about how it is running, or getting some to contribute more by donations. And especially once it is near leveling up, It makes moral in the legion high, especially after a level up. for trying to get higher members and you have a good base, It is good to boast it too, that way new members that are experienced might join.

4, Legion Government;
A. At first, most the time it is good to stay as the legions soul leader, this will keep new members from corrupting the legion, as if you make a brand new person to a officer, they tink it means they can do whatever and kick people.
B. But later, when the members are more experienced, it is good to slowly move to more of a democracy, and promote the best and most helpful member to officers, and later leaders. This makes the member feel they have allot in the legion, and not want to leave because of all the stuff and leadership they have here, Also, experienced members you know, tend to not screw with things as much as they plan on their reputations in the game.
C. The main types of government are Democracy, which is rather different in EVERY legion, which can at times be your own make up, but a good way is to have a leader designated president and Vice President at vote [later when the legion members are experienced]. The most common way and good way for starting is just you as main leader runs things, though as mentioned before, if the legion is not that great and few get to be officers, some may leave looking for a legion with more opportunity.

5. Other things:
A. Sometimes, when the legion is large, and well known, it might be good to make sister legions, usually for holding multiple newer player who know of the main one, in time, you may use this legion as a fall back to merge all of its member to your if your looses many, or grow it to be a ally rather then training legion. Usually allies, if you actually have enough attention and help to them growing them, they will help you in wars, trade, all sorts of things. But if you misuse a sister legion, when the members are more into the game, they will likely start feeling the bond is useless and might rebel, sometimes in a inexperienced fashion and attack right away, or peacefully and just break the NAP. if this happens, DO NOT overreact, talk to the legion, if you overreact and make it open that you are totally smashing them, your legion will become unpopular and no one will join another sister made by you.
B. rewards; sometimes, when players reach certain levels, it is good to give personal rewards to them, like rarer artifacts, minerals for money, etc. this promotes member to personally grow their ship well.

Was this info good?

I like it, I liked step 1.
It was very interesting, I had other lil opinions beside those as a legion name, but yes funny is a good one, but some find it like, you noobs sorta name. I had a clan in a First person shooter, named Dramaqueens, it had its purposes. Yet some found it unbareable hahaha :P Still a pwnage clan when I was playing it.
off topic, anyway. Very interesting. You could include in, a reward for reaching certain levels, and what may those rewards are? that could make the game more exciting for the newbies.

Dramaqueens was named from my In game friend who happened to act all drama liked. cried because he wasnt doing good enough, yet the best in the legion. lol. And we all called him dramaqueen. and then we made a new clan after him, Drama queens. The funny things is that he was Indian, an Indian crying over a game was funny. and that he went to jail for attempted murder :L hahaha. The good cunt...
