When you start the game your ship is based on your race but new players can't see the ship they will get and there is only one ship per race.I think there should be two or three ships to choose from per race.

Do you mean just the ship graphics? or actual ship models with different ability/perks?

+1 for the idea whichever it is.

I'd like to see the ship graphic actually showing that your ship is getting bigger and better. having the same graphic that you had as scout class just seems to make it feel pointless (personal opinion)

What I've suggested before is that every couple times your ship's type changes, a layer of detail is added to it. It would be like the shield graphics, except it would be permenant. Also, a top translucent layer that would change color depending on the dominant type of armor you have.
And perhaps the same thing with the shields.

That would be cool, I think the only downside to that could be that you can guess what their shield/hull plates are even if you don't have enough scanning power (unless that version of the ship graphic is limited to your own shipstat window?)

hmm... good point.
Perhaps if you can't see the shield type, it's just a normal shield shimmer.
But with hull, if you can't see it, you can only see a ship silouette.
This could also leave room for a new type of spy probe.

Spy Probe: Hull
and Spy Probe: Shield

When used, if you can't already see their hull or shield type, it would reveil it to you.

Yeah that could work pretty well (out of interest, do you bother using any of the current probes?? I scrap all of them, apart from the flux probes for mission purposes)

yeah I scrap 'em. They're pretty much worthless.
Resource porbes are used in the Mylarai Race Unlock mission but Weapons and Defences probes are a waste of space. They need to be used in a mission or in a CT Lab discovery.

I think we should have Dan start with just adding a couple of ships per race that we can become. Lets skip all extra abilities for different ships. And the additions per ship upgrade should be held off on til a later date.

I know, it wasn't meant to superceed any other updates. Minor stuff like this should be stuff Dan works on in his spare time while fiddling with GL.
Also, he did say he wanted to update a few ship looks so I'm excited for that.

they already are, Spy Probe - Governance
25 weapon and defense probes, 15 resource probes.

This has been suggested before. Along with different racial avatars (eg male/female of each race).

My suggestion was to let you choose which one shows, and have some GP only (dan wins) or unlocked at certain milestones (Rank 100, 1000th kill, that sort of thing)

+1, this would be best for 'over time changes' to the looks.. More of an accomplishment reward rather than more options that don't aid the game. But a bit wider variety of looks at start or when swapping race would still be great. Just not so many options that it just makes for more work.
