There was a recent post on what should be the next upgrade for a Metallic Planet. I got to thinking and this is what I came up with.

Maybe what should happen is that you obtain a set of extremely difficult to make artifacts from the CT-Lab. Together these artifacts will work to convert the Metallic planet into a "Death Star"-like or Halo-like object. It won't be able to destroy planets. Spacial Expanders can no longer be used on it. It can move off of an enemies scan after 48 hours. It will remain in the database of all legion members until 48 hours after the owner has left the legion. But this would be so heavily defended that an attacking ship has a 5% chance to be completely disabled with each attack. Because this is now a wandering planet, the special event for it can be that you discover a new planet. But if you do not take the newly discovered planet after 7 days, it will be purged from your database.

Now here is the special event for the Halo. With another set of extremely difficult to make artifacts from the CT-Lab, you can maneuver the Halo around one of your planets, or unoccupied, and have the Halo move the planet. This will remove the stationery planet from all other players databases. But when you do this, you cannot receive the planetary production from either the Halo or the planet. This is a 48 hour process.

We have these already, more or less.

We call them 'bases'.

I think what he meant was like a personal base. It could be added to the homeworlds idea.

The funny thing is, I don't. The idea just popped into my head. I have a good memory though, being autistic.
