I was recently reading another post and just wanted to get it out there.
If myself and Legionmate X wanted too, I could colonize a planet he alerts, use Kronyn Datacubes until i have no more. Then X could retake the planet, use his Datacubes, then I could reset my game and do the Kronyn mission again, get more Datacubes, join X's legion again, have him alert it retake it, so on and so forth (Datacubes have no max on them). It would be arduous and not worth it to higher ranks, but they could talk a rank 20- into it or make another facebook account and do it.
Just thought I'd get it out there so Dan now knows if he didnt before.

it takes 33,500 energy + 500 flux probes to get the 6 datacubes. it takes 21,500+ 500 flux probes to even unlock the mission with them. The chances of anyone doing this repeatedly, resetting each time...are ....

It just flux probes to do the first mission. After that is all energy.. no probes. 3 missions in is the data cubes.

wouldn't you just cry though if the newb account had it when it got scanned and then taken away and fluxed after all that work as that account wouldn't be able to keep the top planet structures on it due to it not being researched so it would have very little defense / cloak compared to the value of time involved and the planet.

well... it's still theortically possible....
and some uber rich ppl might now consider doing that...(or something similiar to that)

I mean.. I for one would be perfectly happy to "sell" my cubes if someone pays for my rift~
so.... doesn't have to be repeat on one account, you can "buy" it

granted.... trust would be an issue as stated~

does alerts go "poof" when a planet is fluxed?
I mean is it possible to do this as safeguard?
1. the player with the research planet abondons+alerts it
2. if the player who is selling the cube fluxes it, he is kicked from the legion, and someone else in the legion invade the planet off the alert
3. if the planet is not colonized and boosted by the cube seller within 6 hours of the alert, it is re-colonized and this will be attempted again at later time.

#3 is a safe guard to give enough time in case of need for #2
or does flux wipe away alerts?

Uy23e, alerts do not disappear when a planet is fluxed. They will expire normally in 12 hours.

Therefore, what you are proposing would work. But really, 65k energy+125k worth of artifact on flux proves (not to mention you have a 1/3 chance of getting it and not a Weapons/Defense probe) means you have to get 250 artifact/hour 1,500 times to get the flux probes required. Plus, that takes too long and if you have that much time to spare, then read this and learn from it:"http://trollscience.com/troll/view/6315"

this is not a viable method, but yes, it IS technically possible.

However, I have often considered paying other players to use their rare/limited items on planets for me, the trouble is, would I ever get them back or would they just keep them for themselves?

I would pay handsomely if someone was wiling to use a Mass Surface Melter or Gaia transformer, or what have you on one of my planets that I bulk up, and then abandon and hand off to them, but could I be able to trust them to give it back to me? Doubtful, but possible; and the possibility is exciting.

I suppose if they could give me something of similar value as collateral, then it would be worth trying anyway.

So... u can do it that way to get around the trust issue, find some semi-weak players who are unlikely to stone wall the planet to the point no one in ur legion can invade it~

now, @Dark10c:

I meant to buy the things(datacubes, crystals, melters whatever) from REAL players who don't buy GP(or don't buy much) who will have the items eventually anyway or already do, not getting some guy to start a new account or something for it. I for one intend to eventually finish that task chain to unlock the races, so I will eventually end up with the cubes and stuff. However, I will probably never get all of my rifts. In such a case, why not trade the cubes for rifts(by being paid QSE so I can do the rift chain)
And as Q brought up mass surface melter. I for one will happily sell one for 3+ QSE. As I don't plan on buying QSE for making mega colossal icys to start with, there is NO difference between 2 QSE and 1 melter for me. In fact, if I sell 2 melters for say 6 QSE, i will be able to make 3 mega colossal from 3 VL icys, as opposed to previously only able to make 5 VM from 5 VL(and VL icy isn't exactly easy to come by) Or I can sell 3-4 melters for a rift, also a good trade IMO.
I already have all the melters in my inventory, but haven't used them because i don't have good enough icys. Therefore, I am a real and able seller. And there are real and able buyers. Therefore, a trade could happen as soon as the trust issue can be resolved. There is still the issue of when the buyer's payment would be sent... as in how can seller trust the buyer to send the payment~ But as long as trust is resolved, limited arts will be traded w/o mercy...
even the little omni base or whatever for tier reward.... share-occupy-put on-leave legion-invade~ (white is seller action, colored is buyer action)
Sure, the seller lose an awesome production building, but if someone fork over a couple QSE for it so I can get more total productions elsewhere... why not?

suggestion to prevent multi-abuse of cubes...

Instead of the cubes directly permanantly increasing the production level, it should be a semi-permanant planet effect (like rings and moons) that increases production level.. make this effect stackable with itself so you can use 6 on a planet......

in doing this.... if the planet gets invaded/stolen, the effect would stay...
but if the planet were to be abandoned (for recolonization), the effect from any cubes applied would disappear
in this manner, the cube effect could only be transferred to some random person that has the planet on scan,... it could not be transferred to a person of your choice

If Dan likes my idea, i'd also suggest any currently existing hyper-research planets should be changed to become 17x Mega Rich + N cube effects
(unless it's a rift or dyson, then maybe 32x or 50x + N cube effects)
that way any currently existing hyper-research planets would not be able to grow any further, and on the first abandon would drop back down to "normal" levels

If you colonize an alerted planet, and then abondon it, does it stay on ur scan list indefintely or does it go poof?
if it stays, here is the plan to get around that little idea:
A alerts planet, legionmate B occupies
A leaves legion
seller C comes along,
A invade planet from B,
B alerts the planets,
C invade the planet and boost it up
A invade the planet
repeat last 3 steps for seller D, E, F, etc etc...

or does this not work cause it go poof?

Edit: actully, scrach that, ur little plan would only stop real honest real player trades, will not really help in alts cases....
here is what can be done:
load a legion with 49 alts and a main
main shares a planet ready to be bumped up, and abondons it
alt-1 occupy, boost, leave legion
alt-2 invade off of the alert from alt-1, boost, leave legion
alt-3 and onward to alt 49 repeat the same
finally, main account invade the planet...
311x mega rich... thank you~

u just can't stop alts with silly little rules like that....

if you colonize an alerted planet it is added into your scan database... abandoning it at that point still keeps it in your scan database

drat... missed the extra person scenario
hmmm.. gonna have to sleep on this one then...

how about... kronyn cubes get wiped even on an invasion?

well... if it was on as a buff as opposed to just adding to the production.....
couldn't we just make the buff have a cap?(existing ones can go over, but cannot add more after 6)

wonder why i didn't notice this tad bit to start with...

making them go poof in any and all senario where the planet changes hand is a bit extreme

I have 8 gammas sitting around, and one melter still, but I;m more interested in buying than selling.

Also, I prefer that the seller ABANDONs the planet, as I woudl have to do that after I finished prepping it to be a 15x VMassive Planet, but again, how to trust that someone won;t just take that level of a planet? and doing it to lesser planets is a waste.
