 damage cap for tiny ship builds NEEDS to go

that won't bother anyone who isn't hiding behind a tiny build so yeah~

but in any case, i did know and keep in mind the other dmg cap, that's why I said "up to rank 236", "up to rank 280" etc~ just FYI in case someone didn't figure that out XD

let it go ppl.

theres players with low damage cap on the kill leaderboard so take you anger out on them like i have (won)
or wait for more like i have and smack them.

also i remember me and ejja used to be same lvl, now im more than double her level and can easily wipe her out

or just wait for them to get to rank 500 and then there damage cap if i remember is half there rank (unless im wrong)

Yeah. The damage cap is a limited thing. I'm sure we'll all look back on this and laugh. And we probably will because I'm the king of necro.

there is always a rank related dmg cap
it's just that, as my calculation have shown, u can maintain a certain (hull+shield):cap ratio before rank 500.
After that, they can't maintain it any longer so they get easier to kill
at ~rank 700, they will be down to about 30:1 (from the previous 40-60:1)
and at ~rank 1000, there is no way to maintain more than 25:1 and so on.
So they get easier and easier to kill.



I personally haven't any run in with any well made ones of those so i don't really care. But it is, as of now, it can be a great annoyance. I never did worry about losing to them, ONLY the problem of them guarding planets which would incur an unreasonablly large amount of energy used. In the very least, one of those ships would be more useful in guarding a planet than my own, about 5x better at least if the enemy is significantly stronger than me. (heck, depending on the enemy, a rank 100 tiny might be more useful than a dystonian ship)

I like the ideas of crew coming out, what about it scaling up with rank? that way it doesnt hit someone really hard when they level up all at once.

I would much rather have your damage cap based off your max hull, so those annoying small ships don't hide behind little decks and all hull.

That's what it used to be based on, but people didn't like that double their health just doubled the damage they took, 'cause it seemed useless.

Doubling the cap, without increasing defense, doubles the damage you take. They could increase their defense without bothering to increase their hull and have the same effect. As long as the cap is based linearly on hull then adding hull becomes useless.

I honestly think its fine as it is.

If a small ship is giving you trouble, hack the hell out of him.

If he takes lots of energy to disable, thats fine. As a percentage of total energy, it probably takes him a LOT more energy to kill you than you him. A small ship build is a high defence/low attack build taken to maximum levels.

They have made a choice to sacrifice everything to gain a defence advantage. Its the ability to make those choices that makes GL such a great game. If there was only one path to success, i would have quit playing a long time ago.

i agree it was broken when it was only decks/2, but with rank now taken into account, leave em as is. I also dont need to point out that if we dropped the .5, everyones damage cap would double instantly... equating directly to double damage taken from all sources. ( i certainly dont know of any high level players with less decks than rank)

There just talking about the .5 in the rank formula , The deck one would stay the same.

The .5 is there so that right when people start their damage cap is the same from both equations, and so that putting 1 point into decks per rank is enough to keep them consistent, which I think is reasonable.

nobody cares about that. if the tiny is guarding a planet, you HAVE to kill him.

I'm very glad that I've gotten so many people talking about this. no matter what, the formulae NEEDS a tweaking at the very least.

Bro', I just had one of them hit me with 7 D-Bombs and 6 EMPs, whilst I was offline, mind you and I still wasn't disabled. That should tell you that the only tweaking you need do is defense on your own ship. I mean, seriously. They're obviously having trouble with my shields.
