Perhaps it's just the people I talk to about GL, but I really seem to be weak for my rank. Funny thing is I can't afford the upkeep either. It's been suggested to me (multiple times) that I reset, but I'm wondering if it's really worth it?

i'd rather slow down my ranking, work on upping artifact and research ouput and try and scan / buy some better planets to help.

Agreed. While its a little harder to fix early mistakes once you get into the 200's, it can still be done. Slow your ranking just a bit by not using energy refills Save your cubes and trimats. Get better planets. 2A, 1M, 1R. Be picky, don't just grab any old Average Rich planet. Boosting your artifact production will help get the good ship building stuff. At your rank you should still be putting rank points into decks. Save them and any shipbots you get until you ave enough to install a full module. Don't just add them willy nilly. You're getting to the point where defense actually starts having meaning. Work on getting 4+4 defense mods, 8 guns and 5 hulls. Increasing your mining will help pay for the stuff. Only colonize VL Toxics for mining production unless you find a REALLY good volcanic and you have access to the demonformer in your CTlab. Research, only VM Gas.

I personally hate the idea of resetting, it's like giving up to me. I like challenges, but that's my opinion

Dude, your stronger then me, and I can hold my own against most my rank. Like Darth says, slow your rankimg, grab some planets, and watch the galaxy go by.

No reason to reset - succeeding in GL is all about maximizing your gains for the time put in - time is always your friend. Rather than resetting and spending weeks getting back to where you are, just readjust for the future. There's always more drops and rank points to be earned that can improve your ship, and you'll get far more in the future than you have now. Just keep on truckin' and you'll be fine. And honestly, as others have said, you seem to be doing quite well for your rank anyway.

It's normally not worth it for a slow ranker to reset. If you are concerned with your "power for your rank" then you are usually in that class. Since you are going so slow it would take a long time to recover resources via # of planets.

1827 minerals/hour 2590 artifacts/hour 3473 research/hour The reason your having problems with upkeep is that your research is too high for your minerals per hour. Meaning you installed advance pieces of equipment when your mining per hour cant really support the modules you bought. There is such a thing where in your research goes to much above and beyond your what you can pay for in terms of upkeep. Here's a tip if you cant pay for a module chances are you cant pay for the upkeep. Concentrating too much on research will have a negative effect if you have a low mining per hour.

I guess, perhaps, it's just because some of the people I talk to are... "elitists". Or perhaps they're just trying to get me to give away my planets... Thanks everyone.

I wouldn't reset either.
With your high research, I would take a break from ship research and work on planetary and/or base research. The planetary will increase your resources and the base will make you more useful for your legion.
