Hello,

I'm a fairly new player, and yeah I bought some GP to spin the wheel and to get some quick energy (impatience).

My current ship stats are:

50 Decks +1 Deck (ship size)
80 Cargo +5 Cargo Holds (cargo space)
102 Engineers +2 Engineers (max energy)
33 Tactical Officers +2 Tactical Officers (attack)
33 Helmsmen +2 Helmsmen (defense)
40 Scientists +3 Scientists (research)

This is with NOTHING installed - Obviously you can see Ive put some into Attack Defence, I am currently rank 18 and I have 810,000 credits from spinning the wheel and getting lucky.

I am a Vygold Miner, I have 3 colonised planets, getting steady income, etc - but have I ruined myself with the attackers and defenders? I just unlocked Heavy Laser +18 attack, and Wipple plating +45, and it seems I may have

Any tips? Should I restart?

Cheers

You can reset if you got horrible planets to start with.. You would be a fool to reset if you got nice rare planet or even a Dyson. Lol. Ship system are easy to be fixed as you rank up more anyway that it'll be nothing.. Good news is that your ship is good at PVP so you can play PVP while fixing your ship up as you rank up.. If you don't even like what you are feeling, by all means, just reset. It's too easy to go back to rank 18 anyway.

Tactical Officers and Helmsmen have their uses even at high levels. I wouldn't say you've ruined your ship at all. You need crew in order to raid enemy ships - and defend against enemy raids. Just start concentrating more on decks as you rank up and things will even out soon enough. And once you start getting decent levels of artifacts, you will have a chance at getting Ship Bots and Rescued Prisoners artifacts - which give you free decks and rank points. These can make it easier to balance your ship out more. And of course, you can always buy more if you're willing to get your credit card out.

As Nocifer said, with your current set up, you've got a very good ship for PvP'ing, so have a go at doing what you do best. And if you don't want to fight people, then turn your ship towards some NPC's instead. But there are missions later on that require a minimum number of player kills, and trust me when I say it's better to do it at as low a level as possible.

Cheers for the responses.

My ships serving me well, but im one of those people who will play til rank 100+, Ive scanned some others and they seem to have all decks, and no defence etc I was just wondering If I had spannered it.

Research wise I have most things at the 3rd sort of level - about to get Relays which I have read are good. I put a few points into energy as well - i was Just worried I had ruined my ship a lot

I do like PVP so I am glad I havent wasted myself too much

Ill plod along :D

If you decide to spend more money, buy FATHERS which are a relay. They are worth it but if you reset, you will lose them.

Yes, definitely go for relays. They reduce your maximum energy, but increase the rate at which you recharge your energy. So when you get them, remember to uninstall them each time you're about to level up to get the maximum energy recharge benefit. You can then requip them once you've spent your energy.

Definitely buy the FATHERS as well. The FATHERS are relays but are 10x better than the first tier of relays that you get - the FATHERS give you -10 second recharge per FATHER, whilst the Power Conduit gives you -1 second per Power Conduit. And because they are special relays, you can equip the FATHERS even if you've already got four normal relays installed, plus you can buy two FATHERS for a total of -20 seconds (Compared to the Power Conduits which give a total of -4 seconds). The FATHERS don't reduce your max energy either!

I know the Power Conduit sounds a bit pathetic, but that four seconds soon adds up over time. And the relays get a lot better as you research up the techtree. The Conduits ALWAYS take 5 deckspace as well, unlike all the other ship modules, although the max energy reduction increases instead.
