Ok, if I followed this correctly, given my current status (rank, stats, research, etc..) I could have 6 E-class fighters. Each designated as a Pirate we'll say.. 10 slots on each one... 6x Heavy Quasi Blaster = +2580, 4x Trans Entropy Drive = +3280, x6 = Attack +15480, Defense +19680, +15% bonus to each = Attack 17802, Defense 22632. Add in my unbuffed stats I would have approximately 28k attack and 36k defense. Way overpowered. Name one person around rank 400 (well inside my badge range) that has any chance whatsoever against that... Now picture someone at rank 1000 with a set of 10...

Maybe I misread something so feel free to point out if I did.

I didn't suggest 10 per 100, and i understand how that is OP. How about 10 per 500 ranks?

That's more, not less. We're on 1 per 100 right now.


And what you missed, Darth, was that E-Class can have 2 specialities. An E-Class Pirate Bomber would be even more OP. Also, remember that defence works differently...

Granted the defense would work differently when I would be attacked, but still... Even if the hypothetical rank 400 picked off each fighter before going at my main ship, they are going to get capped every shot taking out what amounts to an NPC with 3280 defense (plus bonuses).


@zargor... Those calculations are based on 1 fighter per 100 ranks, each with 10 module slots. All numbers are taken from the original post.

Another way I thought of balancing the numbers, is that each module gives a % buff to your current stats, and the basic stats are used when the fighter gets targeted.

I think it would be less confusing with all these A class, B class, and C class, if you just had 3 main classes

Bomber - Has higher attack but has little defense.
Star Fighter - Has good attack to defense ratio.
Scout - Has little attack, but has high defense.

Also a single new research branch could be started for this idea. The first thing you would research is a fighter bay ( suggested by Silver_Stiched_Crow) and after you research the fighter bay, the research line get split into 3 new research lines
Fighter Bay:
- Bombers
- Star Fighters
- Scouts

But instead of having space and using the current weapons and defense modules, you would have to research new weapons and defense that is design specially for fighters.

I.E
Star Fighters:

Twin ion blasters
New research into ion channeling technology for Star fighters
Provides 5% attack

Bomber:
Ion bombs
New research into Ion Channeling technology to be used by bombers in ship combat
Provides 5% invasion attack

Scout:
Hyper gravitational Engines
Research into engine technology for our scouts
Provides 5% defense


or something along those lines, of course these ideas would be the very first things you research for each class. It would also be a bonus 5% for every lvl of research done. With a maximum of 6 tiers for each class, meaning you can get a total of 30% bonus for invasion, 30% attack bonus, and 30% defense bonus.

This is how i would imagine this fighter idea to be, you are more than welcome to take ideas from this and add it to your own ideas.

Or it could be similar to Lazuli Fighters like on the Renegar lazuli Station, where its a boosting effect, activated when attacked, but only last for like a limited amount of time, so its not a permanent effect.
