Does anyone know if your Scan effects what planets you find using the star charts? Or is it completely random?
Edit: oops wrong section.

It works as if you got a free 100% scan, so that your scanning power would still count to finding cloaked planets.

Speaking of which, this may have been discussed elsewhere (so my apologies) but now when I blitz, I start at 99% yet im failing quite often. More like I was scanning at 75% to start. Whats with that? I can't possibly roll that 1% that often...?

~Drake Yeah, same here. Last weekend I did a blitz and had 11 fails at 99%. What's with that?

I didn't know/think about the scanning power. I was under the impression that it was just a random planet. Maybe it is time to hold onto them until after a scan blitz!

Just found a good terra planet with a star chart. I only had 400 scan at the time. I guess I just got really luck - and maybe it is just random afterall. I usually just find volcanic or toxic planets with the alien star charts - I wonder if you could even randomly find a dyson with them.

~Drake Yeah, same here. Last weekend I did a blitz and had 11 fails at 99%. What's with that? Best guess is that scanning is a two rolls game. First is the one you see (99% chance of success) followed by one against the planet's cloaking using your scanning capabilities. You basically missed 11 super good planets which had good cloak on them : )

I've noticed that myself the last time I scanned, but I also had over 2k in scan power so they must have been packing some serious cloak. Negative, it always reveals an unoccupied planet. That's why I always wait to use them though until I have a spot open to colonize because if the planet is good (which suprisingly for me quite a few of them have been) I can colonize immediately, build up the cloak and not have to worry about anyone else that has scanned it.

Since unoccupied planets don't have cloak. I don't understand all this talking about cloaking and scan power for Chart use ...

The Alien Star Charts artifacts is a 100% chance to find a random unoccupied planet; I do not believe that scanning has anything to do with it.
If you have a 99% chance to find a new planet and you fail, it is normally due to you finding an occupied planet, but losing the cloak versus scan roll.

Yeah I get them fairly often. I was mistaken though by it's wording though, it's not neccissarily uncolonized. I discovered a rather nice massive oceanic last night colonized from someone. After a blitzkreige assault and a flux the pop is now slaving away for me. b
